Should i get more than 980mbps: pc to 10 gbe switch sfp+ to pc, both with x520-da1, fast pc's with ssd's

You need to be clear on your units used there. mbps = megabits per second, which would equate to ~98 megabytes per second, which you could achieve with a single hard drive let alone an SSD. A topology like you quote would be able to get to 980 MegaBYTES per second, yes. 980 MB/s (or thereabouts) is the limit of 10gig ethernet anyway, so I doubt you'd get quicker unless you ran two connections to each PC and to the switch (and the switch had enough fabric to cope)

Easy to install, and working once the drivers are installed.

Using this as a 10Gb NIC on a Windows 11 PC. Once physically installed, the device is recognised by Windows. It works out of the box, but only at 1Gb. Download and install the drivers from 10Gtek's website, and it was offering 10Gb after the first reboot. Works well and good value for money.

Good rj45 10gb nic (single port)

Easy to install. Debian pc installed the drivers automatically with no intervention required. Windows 11 found the card but could not automatically install a driver. I found in the end I had to download the full driver package from intel. Once I had done this windows installed the correct driver. No issues connected to a 10gb rj45 switch using cat 6.

Works well had to hunt for a driver but other than that it works well.

Dead after an hour

Installed the card. It worked perfectly for about 1 hour then died completely. After a reboot saw "the device could not be started (code 10)". Installed in another PC and got the same error straight away. Update drivers didn't help.

Stable dual port 10Gbe port backwards compatible Multi Gig card

Had a lot of fuss with 2.5 Gbe cards so I decided to go with this card. Installation was a breath and within 5 minutes all my network troubles were solved

EOL card.

These cards are not officially supported in Windows 11, there is a work-a-round that installed the windows 10 drivers, these can cause issues in windows 11 if you have secured your systems. The chip appears to be EOL at Intel. The cards look well built and arrived in no fuss packaging but they don't support 5GB or 2.5GB speeds, which I missed, so based on these two elements, am returning.

Very good and hassle free

Stuck one each in a Windows 10 workstation, a Windows 2016 Server and a Qnap NAS (TVS-1271 if anyone’s interested). Works straight away. No drivers required to be installed. Very decent performance gain over 1Gb.

Excellente carte 10Gb : performances au top après une simple configuration

Très satisfait de cette carte réseau 10Gtek équipée du contrôleur Intel X540-T1. Après installation, j'ai dû télécharger les pilotes directement depuis le site d'Intel, car Windows 11 ne la reconnaît pas automatiquement. Une fois les pilotes installés, la carte fonctionne parfaitement. Pour exploiter pleinement ses capacités, j'ai activé les jumbo frames à 9000 octets. Depuis, les transferts entre mon PC et mon NAS (équipé également d'une carte 10Gb et de SSD NVMe) atteignent environ 95 % de la bande passante théorique. Les performances sont au rendez-vous, avec des transferts rapides et une latence minimale. En résumé, une excellente carte réseau pour ceux qui cherchent à améliorer leur infrastructure réseau domestique ou professionnelle.
