I chose this type fuse holder for several reasons. 1. It works well for my application in that my stereo system installation has to work with the existing electric OEM capacity of my car. This fuse holder does this well. 2. Easily available replacement fuses from any auto parts store. Not an a special item. 3. Being the purpose is to provide circuit protection to prevent fires in any and all circumstances. If your involved in a car accident a fuse holder made of hard plastic would likely bust upon impact. This would leave uninsulated wires of large size able to short out against the sheet metal of the vehicle. Possible explosion from the battery and fire 🔥 while you're still in the car waiting for help; possibly injured from the accident. Getting burned alive isn't satisfactory end result performance from a fuse holder. These fuse holders are of a not so hard plyable plastic that isn't so likely to break or shatter in and accident. Remember choice's have concequences. Think about a products end use and all potential problems. It's a good safe choice for the job I have for it to do.

Great 40 amp. fuse in line holder ? Heavy wire.

I bought this fuse holder primarily due to its 8 gauge wire. All of my power supply cables at the front of our trailer use that size. The fuse holder is enormous, not to mention the Maxi-Fuses that fit the holder. In fact, it is near impossible to insert the fuse to its full depth without bending the prongs on the fuse. All in all, it is a great product and arrived promptly.

This product does what it says and is really 8ga and all of that. But maxi fuses? Really? Would it be so hard to add a couple more female spades in between the two spread so far apart to accept normal size fuses also? I get that it's a big wire so you want to be able to accept 100amp fuses and whatnot, but not everyone is pushing it to the limit. I only used 8ga because it's what I had on hand, but the circuit would be just fine with 12ga except I didn't have any 12ga on hand. I need a 40 amp fuse and I have one... normal size! I actually had never heard of maxi fuses until this thing came in which is why when it was very clearly mentioned in the description, my brain just kinda skipped it. Any time I've needed a fuse bigger than 40, I've always gone to the tube style. I didn't even realize that there was yet another completely unnecessary size of prong-style fuses to serve that same function. Fuses are already a necessary evil; they don't need to be even more annoying.

Heavy wire but still flexible. Connectors held maxi-fuse secure. Gives a generator to alternator modification a better sense of safety on main output.

Very heavy duty, so consider your project before ordering this item. If I ever need another of this size, I would order again. Quick shipment too.
