Good and quite cheap when compared to peers
Comparing against: Proraso, Mitchell's Wool Fat and Geo. F Trumper's shaving creams.Pros- Nice solid plastic screw pot; will withstand being drop on bathroom floor.Almond/ Marzipan smell distinct but not overwhelmingGood lather, lubrication and cushioningFairly good value when compared to British brandsCons: Needs separate pot/dish/shuttle to lather up in like Geo's. Neither Proraso or Mitchell's need a separate dish

Unbeleivable quality for the price
I just adore using Cella. At a fraction of the price of English "traditional" soaps Truefitt, Taylors & Trumpers - it outperforms them all. Will tame the wildest beard - don't blame the soap if your technique is not up to scratch !Check out badger & blade forum for good shaving technique before using to get the best experience

Great classic shaving cream!
Have used Proraso for a few years and tried many other soaps and creams.Cella is very good indeed. It's tallow based like all the best, smell is great not to strong, skin is left smooth and supple.Likes quite a bit of water for the best lather.10/10 superb product and fast delivery.

Excellent product. At last I've found a shaving soap ...
Excellent product. At last I've found a shaving soap that actually smells of almonds. Tried others including Trumpers purporting to be with almond oil but which smelled of old hand soap but not almond. Lather is not quite as smooth as Proraso but the overall effect is very good.

it's a cream and a pretty thick one at that which I suspect has something ...
Having heard some favourable remarks about Cella shaving soap I thought I would give it a try. Firstly, it's not a soap; it's a cream and a pretty thick one at that which I suspect has something to do with the fact that it contains tallow amongst its ingredients. The consistency makes loading the brush very easy. It bowl lathers and face lathers equally well though the size of the bowl doesn't leave much room to manoeuvre initially. The lather it produces is very dense and seems to provide both good cushion and slickness. The amazing almond scent is probably the best I have encountered yet and is not overpowering and doesn't linger long post-shave. Cella is excellent value for money and seems to combine the best elements of a cream and a soap in one product. Personally, Cella will always be in my rotation.

Great shaving cream
Great shaving cream, lathers really well and I live in a hard water area. The scent is amazing and it is really slick. Arrived as expected, I'll definitley buy again

Good 'n' smooth
This is very good for the money - up there with the Proraso in my opinion. In my hard water area, it may even be better for lather. There is a whiff of almonds/marzipan when you use it, as others have said. However I don't notice this lingering after I splash off the residue, dry my face, and splash-on some cheap aftershave, so all right there. I have fairly pale skin and I find that this soap suits me fine - get a fair old load on a brush, then lather it up with a few drips of water in a 1-cup size supermarket kitchen measure.

This Shaving Cream Was Quite a Surprise
This shaving cream from Italy, Milan to be specific, was quite a surprise to me. The shaving cream itself comes in a nice red plastic bowl or jar (different people use different words) that screws on and off. It's quite nice. The bowl, however, comes in a box made of thin cardboard, that has on it a somewhat silly but humorous cartoon figure lathered up for a shave. It is far from the kind of noble or dignified image that the packaging of many other shaving products is intended to project. And so, I did not get my hopes up for this shaving cream. In turn--this is a matter of purely individual taste--once the bowl is open, there is an unambiguous aroma of almonds, well, really more like almond extract. It is pronounced. If you like this particular marzipan-like smell, then you'll love the smell of this shaving cream. If you don't like the smell, you don't want to have anything to do with this product. I really like the smell, nevertheless, after the cartoon character on the box, the nearly delicious smell did nothing to raise my expectations about the performance of this shaving cream. Next, I followed the directions on the box, which were minimal, outlining one basic and simple way of using shaving cream: Wet the brush, put some of the shaving cream on the brush, and lather up (does not say how). I simply went directly to my own wet face with the wet brush that had been briefly rolled around on the top of the cream, which is soft, but a good bit firmer than most shaving creams that come in a bowl.As I rolled the brush with the shaving cream on it around on my face, the lather sprang to life. I had to add some water, which only gave it more life. The lather was as rich and creamy as any that I have ever experienced. Now, here comes the almost unbelievable part: After lathering my face, I shaved it in my usual way. The shaving cream was super. It stayed moist and provided plenty of lubricity for the razor blade (which was a KAI). On this first pass, the results were noticeably more effective than with most shaving creams. I lathered up again, and again there was plenty of moisture and the razor glided smoothly. Normally I make three passes in shaving. And so, I lathered up my face. The same kind of experience and results occurred, which were a little unusual because almost always the lather starts drying up during the third pass. Often on the third pass I find that the lather is just barely there. The razor starts skipping and I have to use lots of water. But, not so with the Cella shaving cream. And so, I decided to push it. I lathered up a fourth time, although I gave up the razor since I already had the results that I am always hoping for. I let the lather sit on my face--it was still thick and smooth--and then washed it off. And so, I lathered up for the fifth time. There was very little difference between the lather on my face in this fifth round from that in the previous four. And so, I went through all the motions again, and for the sixth time, I was able to lather my face with just a little appreciable difference from the first time I applied the lather. I stopped this little experiment at this point. But, I could have gone on, because there was still plenty of lather on the brush to go at least one more round, and maybe even more. I was in disbelief. I tried to rationalize the experience: Maybe I had put too much shaving cream on the brush. But, I hadn't. The lather was really real and really legitimate. In the end, what I can say is this: The box is kind of silly, but don't be put off by it. The almond extract aroma is distinct, strong, and you will or you won't like it--I don't think there is much middle ground here; but, when the cream was whipped up into lather, the fragrance was not at all loud. I might even call the smell "faint." And, for what matters most, this shaving cream produces uncommon lather that allows a shaver to get nothing short of an effective first-class shave. And now, as soon as I finish this review, I plan to order two more bowls of this Cella shaving cream in case there might be some kind of run on it in this gift-giving, holiday season.Afterword: The price is also unexpected. A bowl of 150 grams is around $12, whereas about the same amount of a premium brand shaving cream often runs three times that much. And then, there is the mammoth 1000 gram container of Cella for about $35. That's approximately what 100-200 grams of premium brand shaving cream costs. This Cella shaving cream is a big surprise on more levels than one.

Lathers great
Arrived early and was packed nicely. It does have a strong aroma when you open it but it has a beautiful scent while shaving. The scent on my face after the shave was very nice, not strong or overpowering. Would definitely recommend this soap. It lathers nice and thick and the razor glides smoothly across my face
