Good Budgie friend
Is a good product, Mum’s Budgie perked up a bit when the sensor was switched on he didn’t feel as Lonely. Having said that it is a bit expensive for what it is but it did the trick.

The product itself is good, however my feisty
The product itself is good, however my feisty, independent budgie is not exactly being polite to it - she either attacks it (she's moulting so ideal for beating it up! or mostly ignores it! If she's in an 'okay' mood, my bird will try being friends but she's way too use to being the 'only budgie in the house'! I read the comments before I bought this and they are right - this fake budgie IS noisy! It's sensors are very acute. If my bird and it are on the same perch or near the cage/home, my budgie will just preen herself, slightest movement, playing with her other toys and it triggers this fake budgies (now becoming!) annoying chirping or I can sit approx. 2 metres away from it and clap my hands and it sets that chirping off. This is funny to watch at times but thank goodness it has an OFF button! Overall, an interesting toy to add to the many collections of other toys.

Works well
I bought this toy for my lovebird, which while not a budgie is pretty much the same size. I didn't find the motion sensor too sensitive unlike some of the other reviewers. Walking past the cage didn't result in furious chirping! Perhaps this is because my lovebird lives in a large (6 foot tall) cage which has thick, strong bars. This budgie buddie was just sensitive enough to activate the chirping when the lovebird approached it. All birds are different and my lovebird certainly wasn't fooled into believing this was anything but a plastic toy and this toy was pretty much shunned from the moment it entered the cage. The chirping isn't 100% realistic but then how do you make a plastic toy sound exactly like a real bird? I think it looks good and is very well made and strong. The weight at the bottom means it stays upright as well. This is certainly better than a lot of toys you can buy.

Taylor Not Fooled!
I had two budgies, male and female, who had been together for over ten years. Lady budgie, Moxica, died in October last year leaving the male, Taylor, all alone. I obtained an older male bird as a companion for him in November from our town park. This worked really well. Sadly, the new budgie, Wilfie, died in April this year, leaving Taylor all alone again. So I purchased this creature. Taylor, a very gentle budgie, is terrified! It does look very lifelike - in fact we named it Gordon. However, I don't think its a good thing for my budgie. I feel it actually insults his intelligence and is no substitute for a real, living companion.

Budgies new lease of life
My male budgie 'Harry' has been with us nearly a year and although he doesn't talk he loves to whistle. Harry seemed in need of friend his own kind as he adores his mirror. I didn't want to buy another budgie due to space and the fact he's already had scaly face mites twice since we bought him.I tend not to leave the fake budgie switched on all day and it is not kept with Harry in his cage unless we go out. The sound is not very nice or realistic but Harry learnt and repeated it in under two days and now sings it sweetly every morning when he wants to see his new friend, it is adorably cute! It's like he has found a new lease of life since I bought this toy and it's encouraged Harry to interact with the family much more than he was. Harry has un-clipped wings but this fake toy has been used as a training aid and it is working really well. Harry now sits on the carpet with us, eats dinner at a small table nearby us and likes eating from our hands. My nine year old has also had great success using this toy to encourage Harry to try new fruits and vegetables, take baths and to sit on our legs when we watch TV.Harry has always been a character but now he has increased confidence and it has not affected his interaction with us being seen as his flock, if anything it has only enhanced things and shown a shy-ish Harry that his human family are safe to sit with even though he has the choice to fly away. This is the best budgie accessory I have purchased so far, I am thinking to get another one.

Do not fear the Antichrist.
If you are reading this and deciding if this is for you then you will have read the other comments. I thought this was one of the best collections of reviews gathered by Amazon.Despite one bird believing that he had met the Antichrist, I ordered a buddy for Sky.It was described as life sized but Sky is smaller than his plastic buddy. I was pleased to be sent a blue one. Buddy was in the cage when Sky came back for supper. He flew round outside the cage a few times before he plucked (wrong word) up courage to go in. Slowly he adjusted to having him around and became bolder with him. He now spends more time in his cage and has become more playful in general. However the best laugh I had was when my daughter visited and said that Sky had become much bluer than she remembered. She had mistaken Buddy for the feathery version. She has made an early appt with Specsavers (other opticians are available).I am so pleased I made this purchase. Don't expect your bird to love this toy straight away but give him time. I am grateful for the off switch when Sky bounces on top of him. He now seems to be trying to spin the toy around on the perch and also spends time investigating the battery box.

Bertie loves his new friend
The media could not be loaded. What a terrible sound.I feel guilty turning it on so I don't.Bertie seems to like his new toy even if he is a bit quiet !!Okay so we've had the toy budgie for a couple of weeks I even turn it on though the sound is rather annoying.A good buy Bertie spends a lot of time playing with his new friend at least you can turn the sound off !!

Expensive but worth trying
This is great fun, got this for my budgie as her cage mate died and she is now 11 years old, it is loud and makes the strangest whisle and she hasnt gone anywhere near it , you can turn it off as it does get really annoying, the good thing is she seems to be happier with it just being there she's started to compete at how loud she can sing and move around the cage more just with it being there i hope. , This is expensive for what it is but if it helps theres no harm in trying it . Its probably better for a young bird who hasnt had a cage mate x

Nearly gave my Budgie heart failure!!!
Not a good toy for small budgies and/or older budgies with a nervous disposition. This nearly caused my 12 year old Budgie Heart failure and completely scared him senseless!! Please anyone reading this, be very careful. Who ever created this really needs to do their homework on Budgies!!! For a start the bird is too big, the head on this is completely out of proportion, along with the size of the Eyes and the size of the beak. It sounds nothing like a Budgie, or any bird, that I have ever heard!!!BUT THIS IS THE REALLY CHILLING CONCERN FOR ME......The Budgie toy itself, broke off from its counter balance too easily, without any real pressure placed on it, and worse still, is that the paint finish on the toy, though very artistic, can be scraped and chipped away with just my finger nail. Budgies beaks are much much stronger than human nails, and I would hate for any Budgie to be digesting pieces of paint, which could be toxic (as we are not informed about the paints chemical content), also it could prove to be a choking hazard or could get lodged in their crops, causing an infection and potentially an agonising death. Imagine if a young child had got their hands on it, what then??? Hagen obviously feels that writing on their packaging that it is not to be used unsupervised is caution enough!! I would not recommend this product for use with any bird.

Really good idea! Our budgie loves this
Our budgie was scared of this at first but it is now his best friend. We don't put it in the cage but have it wedged between the cushions on the back of the sofa. As soon as Tuppence comes out of his cage he flies over to the toy to say hello and has a great time running up and down tweeting his head off. He's also learned to make the exact same trilling sound that the toy makes so it's sometimes hard to tell which budgie is making the sound. We turn the noise off when the budgie goes back in his cage as it drives you crazy after a while. We've used the toy to teach our budgie to fly to us (he will fly to wherever the toy is) and also to get bathed in a big glass dish of 1" of water. If the toy is in the water, so is the budgie! He absolutely loves this toy so we're very pleased we bought it; you just have to be patient and let your budgie learn to play with it. Hours of enjoyment for our budgie (and our family as we watch them together!)

Annoying!! But the budgie loves it
Budgie loves this so I've no choice but to reluctantly give it 5 stars as it's his and not mine; but .......it is so annoying. It simply makes an electronic chirping noise constantly. It's the equivalent of a child sitting in the back seat of your car saying "are we there yet" during a medium scale journey over and over again until you lose your marbles and what's worse is that it's touch and noise sensitive so not easy to avoid it's inscesent fake chirping. It would be better if you could record your voice on it but unfortunately it doesn't do that which is the reason I bought it in the first place - I'm not sure if the description says that it does I just don't think I'd have willingly ordered something which evidently has the intention of putting me in an institute of sorts. To my dismay the budgie flipping loves it so I'm going to have to suck it up and wait out until the batteries run out so I can tell him they're non-replaceable (hopefully he'll believe me). When that time approaches - if I'm still on this earth I'll take great pleasure in taking a hammer to it! True story!

Highly recommended
What an amazing product. One of my budgies passed away in january. We were all heartbroken , but watching my poor Gillingham left alone and sad was awful to watch so i started looking online for maybe something to sit on a swing or pirch to keep him company. Then i stumbled across this. I thought id try it and see how it works out. Nothing to lose i thought. Well it arrived and in the cage it went. I left the switch on so that Gillingham could get used to the noise. At first he was scared.. sheepish and very unsure. The sound resembles one of a arcade game but to be honest you get used to it. Over a week Gillingham slowly started getting closer and closer. Now they share the same pirch constantly. He even kisses her. With every light movement she (Beryl) whisles. Which now just brings a smile to my face as i know it bought comfort to my pet that was lonely. I've read some reviews on here regarding this bird and i thought it deserves more credit. So personally i would highly recommend it. Honestly think my bird wouldnt be here today without her. Soppy as that sounds xx

Budgie companion
Arrived promptly quite large, blue just like my budgie Peter. At first he kept his distance from it and clung to the corner when it whistled kept putting it in cage for a while then removing after a few days he started standing near it and talking to it now when it is turned off and does not whistle he pushes it to get a response. Leave it in the cage turned on when I go out

A Great Friend for your Bird
I haven't found a toy bird yet that comes close to this one. I had one with a budgie I had years ago and I bought this one again for the budgie I just bought. It has batteries with it so once you pop them in and flip it on, the bird will start chirping ( I recommend turning it off unless you're allowing your bird to play with it or it may drive you bonkers after awhile). The reason I like this brand the best is because the bird is closer to real budgie size and it's quite sturdy. Both my old budgie and the new one eventually started feeding and talking to their new buddy. No choice of colour but the blue and white one I received is just as nice as the green and yellow.
