Great Kingdoms of Africa First Edition

I got the hard cover one and it’s clean and nice and gives you that new book smell and feel I’m not done with the book yet but so far it’s good and very informative

Bought this as a gift. Recipient LOVED it. He says the photographs are beautiful, and it is full of information.

I am wanting to learn about Kenya and see nothing in here about that. Also didn't see a section on Timbuktu but it may be there.

Received only today, and have read only a few passages here and there, leaved through the pages, and have for now concluded that the presentation is excellent, well above so many others.The material quality is outstanding: the paper quality is very good, font and printing large enough and very clear, the color plates are crisp and sharp and of ample size, the many black and white photographs are also sharp, clear, and the maps are full-page, precise, with fine topographic shading and detailed clear labeling.What I've read so far is of outstanding scholarship, eschewing jargon and any need for propaganda either negative or positive, but aiming to be truly fair and balanced, intellectually honest, very informative, incisive, thought-provoking ... Knowledge of, insight into other cultures, civilizations helps to see one's own with more clarity and density, in wider and deeper perspective. This book will be of help for all endeavors to know.

I teach a graduate course on geopolitics, focusing on Africa, and this is an excellent supplemental reading on the history of the continent, providing information that is not normally available to American undergraduates in the traditional world history courses.

It's not just the base information that contributes to the value of this book but the perspective that it delivers it's narrative. Fantastic book. Highly recommended.
