Best Cookbook for anyone cooking in a very small kitchen or on a boat! Lots of great tips!
Probably one of the simplest and the best cookbooks around! The man tells us how to cook simply, not to overburden ourselves with lots of pots and pans and fancy cooking tools. This book is about cooking in a small kitchen, and more particularly on a small boat. Which is why I sent it to my brother in Ireland who loves to cook and has now set off on a boat trip with a friend of his to the Baltic region (at time of writing this they have reached Denmark)! However, having sent him the book I really wanted it for me - so I went ahead and bought myself a copy!

Few useful recipes
I bought this cookbook at the recommendation of Peter Nielson of Sail Magazine. I’m a sailor and wanted recipes that would enhance my repertoire. I found this book had very little to offer both in reading and useful recipes.

Great Book, well used
A great book, I cook from it at home as well. His attitudes and approaches towards cooking are great, and most things are yummy. In a bookcase full of cookbooks, I reach for this one a lot. There is a bit of a slant towards alcohol in many of the recipes, but other than that its great.

Outstanding Cook Book
The author tested these recipies in the real world aboard his Cal 20 sailing vessel. In my experience they are simple, tasty and good!

Notice to Mariners
James Barber used to have a Cal 20 and knows what its like to have to whip up dinner for a bunch of wet, hungry people at the end of a long day of cruising with only minimal supplies and equipment. This book has 100 recipes any weary klutz can make with canned goods, a coho cadged from a fisherman,or a round of garlic sausage. Small boaters often end up relying on simple foods that keep well, but the menu has a tendency to deteriorate as the voyage goes on. James tells you how to keep some pizazz in your seagoing suppers. This handy little book is a true life saver!

Great simple one dish meals
I learned from a friend that she loved this book. We have made three recipes out of it. I love the quirky little drawings. We met James Barber a few times on Pender Island. Delightful fellow.I think the recipes are easily understandable and do well with either yourselves or having company. His little stories are great. Wish he was still around!

Library book? Really?
Product was as described. Was surprised to find that it's a discarded Fraser Valley Regional Library Book.Called the library. It was no longer in their data base.

Disappointed
Disappointed in the contents. It was nothing I expected. Little that I would use. Just not my cup of tea.
