They work really well as firelighters with no apparent odour on hands or when burning. So far I have started my fire by using only one on every occasion so I would term them highly dependable. To date I have only had to use 1 match on every each time also to start the fire burning readily.

These light really well and really easily. I’m surprised and very impressed by how well they burn. They’ve taken all of the effort out of making a fire. You’ll only need for any fire you start, log burner, bbq, fire pit.

Wow, I was sceptical about these little beauties, however, boy was I wrong, they are brilliant!! They light what can be a bit of a temperamental log burner depending on which way the wind is blowing!! No smell, no fuss, they are just what I needed!! Thank you to a British company for a great design!!

They light easily, got wood burner going, only 48 in box not unreasonable if you can't count.

We bought these to use on our fire pit and BBQ. They work well. Good price too.

*Since I left the review below, the vendor sent a replacement box which are completely different. The lighters in the new box light with no problems , so the first box must have been stored in a damp place - I am happy to update my review.*The last order I made for this type of lighter was from Firewood Centre. When I came to reorder they were out of stock and these looked the same - but these are strangely inoperative. They seem damp, as they don’t light properly and definitely don’t act as a firelighter, they sputter and send off steam, and have to be coaxed into action with twists of paper and strips of bark. Very disappointing. I shall not be reordering.

They are easy to light. However, they are quite small — roughly the size of a wine bottle cork. That means that each will produce only a modest amount of heat. Depending on what else you are trying to light, you may need to use several to get a fire going. Are they worth the price? That’s a value judgment that you’ll have to make for yourself.
