what's the difference with the FC 90 and the FC 90i units?

The Century FC-90 by Lincoln Electric has been in the market for about 7 years. The new Lincoln Electric Weld-Pak 90i FC is a new and improved model. Both are inverter based. In addition, Lincoln also came out with the Weld-Pak 90i MIG - which is a flux-core and MIG wire feeder welder.

Are any/all of the cords removable for storage of the unit?

The gun & cable and work cable are fixed on the FC. The MIG model has a removeable work cable (due to polarity needing to be changed. But cables and cord can easily can be wrapped and placed inside the original carton for storage.

Is the mig gun permanently attached or does it come off?

It’s permanently attached you might be able to remove it idk
