When I purchased I thought more of a disposable but the quality is really good and can be reusable. Very pretty!

I love old school fans. This set is great to have at an event. I’m always hot, so I tuck these in my bags, desk, cars. I don’t leave home without one.

I got these fans to use as a potential party favor, and it is clear they are designed with this purpose in mind. I like that each fan comes in a small white tulle bag, especially since it makes it a little easier to store them all together, and there is also a white tassel at the end of each handle.The separate wooden pieces are connected with a clear thread, similar to fishing line. I notice that they have left a lot of extra thread on both ends, almost two inches’ worth, which I feel detracts from the overall appearance a bit.The wood itself is a very light color. I could see them being used for an arts and crafts activity where people paint the fans. I have owned a sandalwood fan in the past, and I really don’t think these are made of sandalwood. The one I had was more reddish in color, and gave off that wonderful scent sandalwood is known for when I fanned myself with it. These have no scent at all. I’m no expert, but based on my limited experience I can at least say I have doubts.Though the pattern in each blade looks nice and clean, the tops all have a rough edge to them. Given the low price (at the time of this writing it’s at $21.59, which amounts to less than 1 dollar per fan), I’m willing to forgive some of the craftsmanship issues: They will still create a lovely impression if they are laid out for each party guest, and I could see distributing them at outdoor weddings to help guests cool themselves off without having to flap the wedding program or any other piece of paper each person has on hand. I could even see someone with the time and tenacity creating a fun decoration using them all together since they are so inexpensive.Though there are some quality issues, I think these are useful as an inexpensive party favor. I will be using them as an element of a princess-tea party theme for kids, and am sure the little ones will feel very elegant. I am a little disappointed they don’t have that lovely sandalwood smell I was expecting.
