Best sunhat
I have no idea how I've only just found these Columbia hats but I am addicted. Simple adjustable design really does fit all sizes and I particularly like that I can adjust it for if my hair is up or down and therefore thicker or thinner. It folds into nothing and was light and comfortable, keeping my face shaded but my head cool and has a handy chin strap for windy conditions. Definitely the best I've had.

Lightweight, good for packing in suitcase.
Good fit, and a lovely wide brim, ideal for keeping the sun off your face. Happy with the quality.

Nice hat, but why the mesh?
I didn't research this hat enough prior to purchasing two of them. Whilst they are nice looking hats that fit well, I have to question how much protection from the sun the large area of mesh provides - I would envisage having a tan in the shape of the mesh! It makes no sense to me for what is being sold as a sun hat with UPF50 protection to them have areas that are open to the sun, therefore allowing UV in. I'll stick to my Outdoor Research and Craghoppers for now as neither has any large vented area.

Brilliant hat
My son doesn’t much like hats but he with stood this one on holiday. His 9 years old it fits him well but also fits me well and his dad well. The string proved handy in the wind it blew off a few times but was saved by the string which amused my son. It’s great for covering thier face a neck from the harsh sun.

Perfect archaeology hat
I was on some fieldwork recently and needed a way to keep the sun off my neck while also showing to the world that I'm an archaeologist with zero employable skills and an unjustifiable obsession with old bits of pot hidden in the earth. This hat, with its dull grey overtone and shape that cries "practical first, sexy last" was the perfect hat for the job. In all seriousness, very lightweight, breathable, and durable. It's my second of these hats (my first is desert sand coloured in case I need to camouflage myself when fighting off bad guys in Egypt; this one was for mountain camouflage). And the strap is effective without you having to garrote yourself to stop it flying off in the wind. My one gripe is the slightly flimsy rim, which occasionally decided to buckle right over my eyes and blind me. If this is likely to annoy you, a study pith helmet might suit better.

Good until I washed it
This is a lightweight and breathable sun hat that did a good job of protecting by head and neck while hiking in the high mountains. It's quite large, even after tightening the band I found it quite loose on my 58cm head but it was still comfortable. However, it has some flaws: 1. The brim is not very stiff. This does not matter in calm weather but in windy conditions the brim keeps blowing up. 2. The big problem is washing. I put in in the washing machine at 30 gentle cycle along with a couple of running caps. The caps came out like new but the Columbia hat was wrecked, the brim had started to disintegrate and lost what little stiffness it had before. Not acceptable after 1 weeks of use so I returned to Amazon for a refund. Hand washing might have been a better approach but this is 2023...

Great - fits a big head!
I often struggle with hats purchased online as I have a large head 61cm/62cm (7 5/8") depending on manufacturer - however, this hat fits well and has a draw-string for smaller bonces. I can't accurately gauge the sun protection as the hat has only been worn in an English summer thus far, which has been a bit overcast, but the waterproofing is fine! I may return to review again once the hat has survived the monsoon climate it was purchased for... it is certainly very lightweight!

Nice smart and useful hat
Not tested very much and not enough sun. But quality and fit excellent for me (a lady who does not want frills)

Good materials and comfortable

If the brim was marginally more rigid, this would be an easy 5-star review. It's a little floppy for my tastes, but I wear an Akubra a lot of the time. That said, it's my definite go-to for hiking, fishing, and walking the dogs. Worth every cent.
