I’ve never used a fire extinguisher in the house, but I have had a couple kitchen flare ups. You don’t want to have that internal debate about whether a fire is big enough to warrant the mess, hassle and expense of using an extinguisher. Just throw a blanket on it instead. Afterwards you can wash if needed and reuse it. I haven’t used these yet, but I can’t imagine it won’t work. I mounted one inside a cabinet. It’s thin enough that the door still closes. The other one is just inside the garage door.

I didn't give 5 stars because there is no mention of the fiberglass splinters you could get. The blanket works as described and is a great idea. I bought as a gift for someone and demonstrated how it works. After handling it, refolding the blanket, and putting it back in the case, I came away with those tiny fiberglass cuts. They eventually went away after a few washings of my hands and throwing all my clothes in the laundry. I would still buy the blanket, however, from now on if I have to handle it I'll make sure I'm wearing gloves. I would use it without gloves- no problem- if there was a fire but for demonstrations or familiarizing yourself with it, make sure you wear gloves.

Wish there had been one of these on the sail boat we bare-chartered back when. We had to clean up all of the extinguishing powder all over the galley after using the conventional fire extinguisher. Simple to use even for the young if only you show them how to act and not panic.

I have NOT had to use them, and I hope I never do. Very good price compaired to ones I see on TV

Haven't had to use it but I am glad I have it if needed. A must have for any home.
