Loved this one. I enjoyed seeing all the different perspectives and how the plot unfolded. The suspense and unease was consistent and the short chapters made this incredibly easy to read. Couldn't put it down. Loved it. I look forward to reading more in the series!

The breakout book that launched the literary career of gazillion-selling author Frieda McFadden, and it’s easy to see why this book was such a hit. The story grips the reader from the start with an intriguing set up, and then constantly cranks up the tension throughout. There is enough mystery to keep the reader guessing about the truth behind the characters, and we’re never entirely sure where the book is heading. There are plenty twists (some obvious, and some that you just won’t see coming). There are times when credibility is stretched to breaking point and the ending perhaps feels a bit rushed, but the writing is sharp and the story is well told. The inevitable Netflix adaptation is on its way and may or may not do the book justice. But either way, it’s unlikely to detract in any way from the book’s popularity. If you can over look the plot holes and paper-thin characterization, then this book is a compulsive read. However, in spite of its readability , it is also instantly forgettable.

A 4.75 star rating from me. What a gripping rollercoaster of a read. This story hooked me from the very beginning and kept me engaged right through to the end. It’s fast paced, easy to follow, and genuinely entertaining. It does become slightly predictable in the second half, but even then, it still managed to deliver more than I expected. There were enough twists and turns to keep things interesting, and it definitely keeps you on your toes. The writing style is simple and accessible, which made it a really easy read. I also liked how the character backstories were revealed in small pieces throughout the book, rather than long drawn out chapters. It all comes together nicely towards the end without feeling heavy. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a quick, fast paced read with plenty of twists.

Another classic McFadden thrilling ride! Devoured it in a day and loved every bit of it. Going straight on to the sequel!!

Wow. Just wow. I read The Housemaid in a single sitting and my jaw is still on the floor!Freida McFadden is the absolute queen of psychological thrillers. Nina’s character is absolutely fascinating, and her incredibly smart, meticulous planning completely blew me away as the story unfolded. Just when you think you have everything figured out, she hits you with a twist that completely flips the entire book upside down. The pacing is fast, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.If you love books filled with dark secrets and mind-bending twists, you need to read this immediately. The movie adaptation was spectacular too—both are a 10/10. Highly, highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book. Didn't know much going in but it's a interesting and twisty book. I felt some thing that happen were a little unrealistic but I went this it and overall enjoyed the read. It moves along at a pace and the characters are interesting if a little unrealistic.

the story itself is such an amazingly written and reeling story. it is really interesting and i couldn’t stop thinking about it when i wasn’t reading it. i was so interested about what happens next. unfortunately, i bought a “brand new” book and was given a clearly used book that had a creased and bent spine, chips, peeling front and back cover, and the book wouldn’t even close because it was opened and used quite carelessly - clearly returned after reading, which is disappointing because the story is amazing so i wish i could score higher.

This was my first time reading Freida McFadden and I was not disappointed. You really dont know where this is going until 3\4 of the way through, it is gripping and exciting and a real turn of events at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend. Ready to read the next in the series now

This is certainly an addictive thriller, I couldn't put it down until I had read it all! Thoroughly recommend it, a good vacation book!
