Review of 'Laima, Assortment of dark chocolate candies "Latvija"' for Amazonby Igor S., Orinda, CA This collection of chocolate candies is a true delight. The attractively designed box contains 35 dark chocolate candies with three tasty fillings: toffee cream, cocoa cream and milk cream, each contributing its distinctive flavor. The net weight is 12.7 oz. The ingredients and some nutritional information are listed in several languages on the bottom of the box. The candies are made in Riga, the capital of Latvia. I gave the candies as a Christmas present to my wife, who was born in Riga. She agrees fully with my review. The company producing Laima chocolates was private before World War II, and had an excellent reputation. As a matter of fact Pauline, the daughter of the company owner, was a friend of my wife's; both were in the same class in elementary school. The ownership of the company changed during and after the war several times. Now the owner is Orkla Latvia, a subsidiary of the Norwegian foods conglomerate Orkla.

Having visited Latvia for their 100 year celebration of the republic, I became acquainted with the Laima chocolates and was delighted to be able to get these for Christmas gifts.
