I bought this test kit to use it to compare it with another test kit while testing my tap water, my old, filtered water pitcher and another, new brand of filtered water pitcher. I bought several of these kits so I was able to test all of the above twice. The results of the second test always matched the results of the first. With the number of things to be tested it did take a while to test all the samples - but the tests were fairly straight forward and the results easy enough to ascertain. I feel fairly confident they were accurate since the results did match the other kit that I purchased and there was a slight difference in the results compared to the tap water and the filtered water - which I had hoped. What the results indicated to me is that there doesn't seem to be much benefit to filtering my tap water - since everything tested as safe or no indication that the things I was testing was in the water. I did find that a bit concerning since I have city water and there should have been at least chlorine in the water; but no evidence of such in the test results. So, I can't say that I feel 100% confident in the results: but, again, just 'fairly confident'.

This was a relatively inexpensive and easy test for water quality. I have a whole house filter, but always wondered exactly how effective it was. I also have a well that I wanted to check. The directions are easy to follow, but I recommend taking a quick picture of the results with your phone, as the dip sticks won’t hold the original colors as they dry out. The only test I found somewhat ambiguous was the pesticide test - one I’d really like a clear reading on! These tests gave me great peace of mind, as I always wondered whether some chlorine survived the whole house filter (it does not). For the money, this will be a good test to run periodically, and I’d like to test my rainbarrels as well, as this water is used on my veggie bed. I wish they’d add a test for minerals, and a test for fluoride would be extremely valuable, as many communities still add this highly toxic chemical to the water supply. It’s so important to know what’s in your tap water. Even if you don’t drink it, you bathe in it, wash produce in it, launder with it, and brush your teeth with it. What you don’t know could kill you, or at the least make you chronically ill.

Once we got the package we opened it up and found everything to be sealed individually and properly. It's helped us to determine what is in our water in the home. I have been having dry itchy skin it and wondering whether it was my laundry detergent, or water, or the lotion I was using... I could not figure it out. I got this test and now we can see that there are contaminants in our water. We are on City tap water and yet we still find lead and other contaminants in it. This probably the worst because it also affects my drinking water from my refrigerator. My refrigerator has a filter, but my sibling has been saying that the water tasted funny and the ice made any other drink tastes funny. So, we have since ceased using the water from the refrigerator. I looked on epa.gov and they suggest that you only use cold water when running from the tab to not stir up the sediment. So, I am looking into getting a whole house filtering system. Once I get that, hopefully most of these problems will be alleviated. So, the test is very helpful in determining whether or not you have contaminants in your water that could be affecting your skin and other things in your household.

I really liked this item. However, I did feel a little nervous cuz the lead lines were a little hard for me to see because I have trouble telling the lighter and darker, husband confirmed that the color was fine and that it did not indicate lead, but I might redo the lead one. Bacteria was good and so was pesticides.

Got all the results I wanted by following the guidelines. I feel better knowing the drinking water is sage.

Easy instructions

Results were a little hard to interpret - comparing colors of 2 sides of the stick seems a little bit outdated.Some digital representation of binary results (pesticides - yes, lead - no) would be something we would expect in the the current digital age.
