No. The product texture is like one of those rough mats you use to wipe off the bottoms your muddy shoes.

Hi. For the baby tortoise , how about if they eat it the liner of the carpet ?

They will sample nearly everything you put in their enclosure. It won't do them any harm. They will ignore it after a couple of days unless they get very hungry. Ours are on a regular feeding schedule with food left down all day and they basically ignore the mat now.

Can you use this for planter baskets?

Yeah I could see that working. Might find something cheaper though actually meant for that.
