Skip this purchase! The outer wires that structure the blue piece are round like a wire hanger and have absolutely no support from the black cap base, so IF you manage to balance it in the upright position, the blue piece just flops over to one side or another with even just the slightest movement as the wires shift within the cap. If I had more time to get my costume together, I would have returned this and made one from scratch from tutorials on the internet. Because I was short on time, instead I detached the blue piece from the black cap (which was small on my head anyway, with ties that were difficult to keep tight enough to support the tall blue piece), purchased a black pillbox-style hat to use as the base (so now the hat was $20 more expensive) and hot glued the bottom of the blue to the back of the pillbox hat so it would hold the wires a fixed distance apart for support. This would probably have been enough to keep it upright indoors without a whole lot of moving around - like maybe for a quiet party, but I wanted more assurance since I was wearing it for a half marathon, so lots of moving around and there could be some wind. So I also added three wooden cross pieces (which I painted blue to match) along the back to hold the wires a fixed distance apart further up, not just at the base. With ALLL of this modification, it worked great and the hat stayed on for almost all of the run, save for a couple of particularly gusty sections of the course. In hindsight, waaaaay too much modification was needed - I should have just bought the pillbox hat from Amazon, some craft foam from Michaels and some flat wire to make it from scratch. Also, why is it blue??? Yzma's hat is purple!

My daughter was able to make it work for her, but the quality is definitely not the best. I only purchased it because I needed something last minute. I had read the reviews beforehand, so I was prepared for what I received.
