What lovely book this is, the illustrated album covers brings back great memories of the vinyl which l use to have, and l now have on CD. The book has some lovely illustrations from many artists from the past. “Hipgnois” started in 1967 by Storm Thorgerson, Peter Christopherson, and Aubrey Powell, and eventually moved their business to various places in London, where there business took off and the record covers became famous ! Very interesting book, 5stars being awarded! 😎

As a fan of Hipnosis artwork this was a no brainier.

This book is an inspiration. However, as it is said elsewhere, it's not complete, for example, the first Peter Gabriel album only prints the front cover omitting the back and both sides of the inner cover photographs which I might add was shocking and unexpected showing those contact lenses, it added to the whole experience of the album. So, for this album alone there were 4 photographs but only the front cover is shown. The same with Genesis, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, back, inner covers omitted. So that goes for a lot of the albums. Also why did they not put the sequence of shots with the man on fire used on the front cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here? So in my opinion, yes it could have been more complete. All that said, it still gets 5 stars and the blurb that goes with some of the covers is highly amusing, funny and enlightening especially when they talk about some of the covers they didn't like or just didn't work.

All part of my music experience growing up, the album cover was part of the journey. Hipgnosis were the best at getting the bands of the time's meaning across in a visual fashion. Reminded me of albums I had forgotten I have in my collection. Excellent for anyone who believes LPs should be listened to as a whole!

Oh yes - very happy with this! Written by someone so well acquainted with the music scene of the late 60s and 70s, this has fascinating insights and background stories to so many albums and their covers; many I know and many more, I don't. The author is very honest about the hits and the misses and goes to into enough detail about the techniques used 'back in the day' without being a bore. I would have liked the pictures to have been a little bigger (the originals were 12", of course!) but the book would have become unwieldy; as it is, it is the perfect size to thumb through in a chair. The pages are of thick, quality paper and it's nicely bound; the quality of the whole production reflects the excellence of its subject matter. First class - very pleased.

Great book. Solid photo reproduction. Great narrative by hipgnosis on some classic albums. Recommended if this is up your alley. 👍

Ouvrage en anglais, et belle qualité... L'occasion d'avoir la chance de voir toutes les pochettes de disques faites par Hipgnosis, avec des commentaires de Aubrey 'Po' Powell (co-créateur d'Hipgnosis avec Storm Thorgerson)... Il ya donc du pink Floyd, Genesis, The Nice, 10cc, etc. et beaucoup de photos/pochettes moins connues... le travail d'une quinzaine d'années se retrouve résumé ici.
