GREAT beginner matcha
Gonna start with- I am not a matcha expert nor do I claim to be. My preferred way to drink matcha is latte, mostly because I can drink more of it, aaaaand I just like lattes. Anwyay, On Kiyo’s website: this is listed as a beginner matcha, so if you’re interested in, Kiyo’s Hatsumukashi is the way go. Cultivars - “Yabukita, Saemidori, others” I love the color! It’s a vibrant green! More vibrant then the last matcha powder I tried. I’ve tried this as an usucha and in a latte, and it’s such a treat. In a latte, the bitterness and astringency is at a minimum, if any at all, I can barely taste them. As an usucha, I taste can minimum bitterness, but the aftertaste was sweet! I loved it! I There is a sweet grassy, vegetal scent that I find refreshing. Also, the tin is a bit smaller than some brands that I know, but I love that it is this size. this is the 2nd time I’ve purchased Kiyo’s Hatsumukashi. The price per gram, and the taste, is not a bad deal.

Great for beginners!
This is my first time making matcha. I'm tired of paying $8 for a matcha latte, so I decided I would venture out to try and make it my own. When you get this container, it comes in a silver bag and a little pamphlet explaining all the different types of matcha and their flavor profiles. This is super helpful especially when you're a beginner and falling down the rabbit hole of the matcha world. This specific matcha is a very vibrant green and has an earthy smell to it. I did make my first batch of matcha successfully. The taste of umami is definitely there(it made my mouth water), and there's a slight bitterness and astringency. I sifted 5g of the powder and added 15ml of room temp water to make a paste, followed by another 15ml of hot (not boiling) water. This recipe created a decent microfoam with my little bamboo whisk! Layers very beautiful on top of my almond milk. All in all, the quality to me is fantastic. For ~$25 ish bucks I'd say this was well worth it to try out for all the beginners like myself.

Great matcha
Loved the taste of it. Blends well. Deep green color and very smooth. Very high quality matcha. I ended up getting 3 more bags of 100g one.

Good quality but too bitter for me
The matcha looks fresh and the color is nice, so the quality seems good. It mixed pretty well and didn’t taste artificial. But personally, I found it much more bitter than expected, especially when drinking it straight as usucha. Maybe better for people who prefer a stronger, more earthy matcha flavor. I still think it’s decent quality, just not the taste profile I was looking for.

Great, will repurchase.
Really good flavor. I usually make matcha lattes and this one is good even just plain with no sweetener, barely any bitter taste. Tried it with passion fruit puree and with chocolate and hazelnut syrups and both were fire. Definitely buying again.

Extremely bitter- tastes expired
Im not sure if I got a bad batch of this matcha or what. I typically buy from Rocky’s matcha or the tins at LaLaLand Cafe. I read good things about this matcha and wanted to try something more affordable. I’m so disappointed. It is some of the most bitter matcha I’ve ever had. The bitterness overpowers all other flavor. I even added 20g of agave which is wayyy more than usual for me and it tasted completely unsweetened- still bitter 😳 it didn’t create a microfoam like my other matcha powders either. I don’t feel like this is good quality matcha 🥲
