that the memory is still working
When you are 71 years old, and have lived on your own for 18 years in a foreign country and dread the thought of Alzheimers, it's good to have something to stretch the brain. I have always been a crossword fanatic, and both the cryptic and general knowledge crosswords from the telegraph keep me sane.

Keeps the 'little grey cells' going
I've had a few of these books and they are all challenging and fun. A couple of criticism: layout of clues on 3 sides is awkward and there are too many obscure literary questions (reflecting the bias of the person setting the crosswords). Otherwise good.

Very pleased with this
Very pleased with this. Bought for my 'better half' who hates cryptic crosswords but is a whizz with general knowledge ones. I do wish it was spiral bound, but ones that are seem to be hard to find - they are much easier to use as they can lie flat. However, the actual crosswords in here are quite challenging but not too difficult to complete if you have a fair general knowledge.

Really frustrating format - the book is too small - won't be buying another
This is a very frustrating crossword book. The clues and the grid are on 4 separate pages so for two thirds of the clues you're perpetually turning back to the previous page. This makes it very hard to do the crossword, and impossible for 2 people to collaborate on a crossword. The Times general knowledge crosswords are much better because they're in a larger format book and all the clues and the grid are visible at the same time. Sadly we have completed all the Times books and there isn't a new one till next year. Also the compilers of these Telegraph crosswords are way too keen on greek mythology - but I admit that's a purely personal annoyance. But I won't be buying another one of this series.

Good Puzzles
We always do a cryptic crossword over breakfast and have always printed off newspaper puzzles on the internet but these have become quite expensive so we bought this book. It is very good value and if you are really stuck the answers are found at the back!

Everytime.
These books were for my mum, she loves them. I can't do these puzzles but I am assured they give you a good run for your money.

I love cryptics. The British spelling and obscure clues are trying, but these books keeop me from committing mayhem when I am forced to wait.

That is probably a good thing.
The format for answers in the back is different, but that's alright. The puzzles themselves are somewhat more challenging. It is taking me longer to solve them. That is probably a good thing.
