The listening device doesn’t work, the ink is dry in the invisible pen, the instructions are printed blurred on a little piece of paper. There’s lots of cardboard inserts with very little toys. My son was so excited to open this on Christmas morning and we’ve had so many tears and disappointment. I’ve ended up ordering another from Smyths and this will go in the bin. So far it’s just put a dampener on Christmas because he’s so upset

This is a great toy set, my sons have loved playing Detective!There is quite a lot included with the set, so it's great value for money - Binoculars, finger prints, listening device, notepad etc etc - definitely recommend!!

We bought this for our 9-year-old for Christmas. In her words, most of the kit is "OK and fun" but she's very disappointed that the listening device is different from what is shown in the instructions - to the extent that it doesn't work at all.

The listening device doesn’t work and doesn’t match the instructions. The invisible pen was pathetic you could only just see that something had been written. The fingerprint ink pad worked well until granny came to try and wash it off her fingers!!!!! We had to use bleach flash spay on her. So glad it didn’t get on the furniture.There is no quality or thought attached to this product.

The items in the box aren’t what is described and the instructions prevent explanation for completely different items. Invisible ink pen all dried up and my daughter was really disappointed with this birthday gift. Not great.

This went down a treat with my Nephew. The packaging looks great and kept him happy and entertained for hours.Highly recommend for quality and price!

This has fingerprint sheets, surveillance sheets and more.The kit also includes some fun accessories, like pocket sized binoculars, an invisible ink pen, a magnifying glass, a fingerprint kit, plaster of Paris, with a scoop and finally an eavesdropping device.The eavesdropper does not work, which was disappointing, it comes with the headphones, which you plug in and then you are supposed to be able to adjust the volume wheel to hear sounds from afar up close, unfortunately there is no volume wheel, so there was no way to turn it on, it absolutely had a battery and the headphones definitely worked, so I'm not sure if it was a different one I had or not, hopefully it's just the wrong one!Even with the eavesdropper not being usable, I would still recommend the kit in hopes mine was a one off, as the whole kit is a lot of fun for little ones.

At its current price of just under £25 I don't think this is good value for money. Upon opening the large detective branded box the contents certainly aren't bursting out at me. It's just a lot of cardboard inserts and paper to be quite frank! To put it simply there is not much actual spy/detective content in there. However, on the whole my kids have enjoyed playing with the various gadgets and gizmos, especially the spy ink. I must forewarn though, that the ink can quite easily get very messy and very fast! So I highly recommend that this is only used under adult supervision. On the whole it is fun, but lacking depth to the content, and is of disappointing value for money. 3 out of 5.
