Great All Rounder
So far after 5 months I adore the Q990C and has completely changed my perception of soundbars and what they can do. Decided to give my home theater system a streamlined update after my old plasma TV died (replaced with a Samsung OLED S95C) and wanted a neat setup. As an audiophile, I feel soundbars have come a long way and this one sounds almost as good, and in ways better, as my trusty 5.1 receiver and speakers (Yamaha receiver, Bowers and Wilkins speakers) this has replaced. I have a large open concept living room/kitchen area with vaulted ceilings, and I can confidently say, the Q990C can fill the entire space with immersive sound. It lacks some of the punch, richness, and full body sound that my old 5.1 system had, but improves on it with the surround sound bubble with Dolby Atmos and the latest DTS:X decoding, and a very sleek, clean design. Overall, the Q990C sounds great for movies, TV, and games and has a very clear and crisp sound. The dedicated, powerful center channel definitely helps this soundbar have excellent speech and dialogue performance when watching content, while the 3-way rear surrounds provide a strong (wireless and easily placed) true surround sound immersion. The main bar is crisp and punchy, this side of a Nakamichi Dragon, while maintaining a decently slim profile, though can sound a bit clinical and lacks some warmth. The only place where this system seems to really fall short is with the wireless subwoofer. For the power that the rest of the system puts out, the sub simply doesn’t seem to have enough power and oomph to keep up, making the whole system sound a bit lean for the space I have it in. Had they gone with 2 subs, or simply a larger single sub, this would dramatically improve the sound to my ears and make this a hesitation free recommendation. Music just sounds flat and uninspiring listening to this soundbar, so I will stick to my dedicated amp and 2.1 setup I have for listening to music, granted that I’m comparing a soundbar to a set of massive Bowers and Wilkins 802Ds and an ASW-2500 sub. But for someone looking for 1 simple system to do it all, the Q990C is hard to beat, especially given the price vs a component system (or a Dragon). Do I miss some qualities of my old custom setup? Sure I do, but the packaging of this soundbar, updated codecs, combined with the immersive Atmos sound, I’m do not regret switching. It’s simply a very clean and good sounding solution for anyone looking for full surround immersion in an easy to setup system with seamless connectivity (eARC & Q-Symphony), and overall impressive for its size sound footprint. A definite must buy for a one size fits all solution. Simply fantastic!

Awesome sound system for theater experience and music!
I'm technically reviewing the Q990D (2024 model) as that is the model I received although I ordered the Q990C (2023 model). However, from all the research I did, they are very comparable in sound and features and basically identical in look and dimensions. First off, I recommend downloading the Smart Things app to aid in install and configuration. Set up itself is relatively simple, only power cords (no bricks) and an hdmi cable. All components sync wirelessy and I have it hooked up through ARC hdmi port on a 6 year old 55" Samsung tv which immediately recognized the soundbar system. Movie experience is amazing, very immersive and enough lows from the sub to give the boom when needed and you can easily adjust for more/less on the remote. There are four sound modes, three which utilize all the speakers and one standard mode that is just front facing using the soundbar and the sub. Listening to music is also very balanced and punchy and BT connection to phone is basically no different than pairing from any other portable BT speaker. Overall, the system is versatile, not too big, and volume is robust even at low levels. Prices seem to fluctuate so you shouldn't be paying MSRP making it a great value. I also have higher end component systems that go bigger but you simply can't beat the convenience of wireless speaker pairing of rears and the sub without giving up sound quality. Side note - if you don't want to use the satelite speakers in the rear configuration, it can be positioned and calibrated for front R/L speakers along with the soundbar creating more front spatial sound design.

Great soundbar
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The SAMSUNG HW-Q990C 11.1.4ch Soundbar is an absolute game-changer for my home entertainment setup, and I couldn't be more thrilled with this purchase. It's an easy 5-star rating from me, and here's why: First and foremost, the setup process was a breeze. Within minutes, I had this incredible soundbar up and running, thanks to its user-friendly design and clear instructions. It's the kind of hassle-free experience you hope for when setting up new tech, and it exceeded my expectations. Now, let's talk about the sound quality. The HW-Q990C delivers an audio experience like no other. The 11.1.4 channel configuration fills my room with immersive, crystal-clear sound. Whether I'm watching movies, playing games, or streaming music, the soundbar's performance is nothing short of exceptional. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support take the audio to a whole new level, making every sound, from the softest whispers to the most thunderous explosions, come to life. It's like having a mini-cinema in my living room! The build quality of this soundbar is also top-notch. It not only looks sleek and stylish but also feels robust and well-made. It blends seamlessly with my TV setup and adds a touch of sophistication to my living space. The included remote control is intuitive and easy to use, allowing me to fine-tune the audio settings to my liking. It's the way to go
Trust me, this system KICKS! This soundboard is amazing. The quality from the buld and finish, to the sound are all top notch. The clarity is noticeable compared to cheaper units. So is the size of the unit! It's so much bigger than my buddies. It comes with a remote but I have it connected to my tv so I never use it. The sound bar connects to the Samsung smart things app, and you can control it from there. Allowing you to change settings, and connect to different devices like your computer or phone. The functionality of this thing is truly amazing. It's good with music, but not really made for it. If you're looking for extra deep bass from music I'd say this isn't for you. It really comes alive during Dolby atmos movies! That's what it's built for. If you're looking to upgrade your TV's sound system for cheap, this is the way to go.

Love this bar system! Even better when they ship you a 990D vs. the C..... YMMV! :)
I picked this "990C" up at the current all-time low price of $899 on 8.29.2024. To my delighted surprize what showed up at my door was actually the 990D vs. the 990C offered on this product page. YMMV, but this was sold by the seller Beach Camera (delivered by Amazon via FedEx) and it doesn't seem I was alone based on other reviews and forum posts I dug up. So win-win overall, amazing price for a top-tier 2024 Samsung sound bar! Setup with my 65" Sony A8H OLED where I'm running a FireCube through the bar and back to the TV via eARC. Setup went smooth except linking the bar to the Samsung Smarthings app. It would not complete the activation and I was able to fix this by uninstalling the app and reinstalling. After that all has been great! The sound quality and immersiveness is amazing! Even at level 12-15 you hear sound all around you, vocals are crystal clear at any level. Try some Dolby Atmos content on YouTube after setup and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Google the comparison between the C and D and you'll find that the D brings lots of new features and improved tuning, the most significant addition is the 4K 120Hz passthrough ability for gaming.

Excellent home theatre unit, Wifi works very well - not audiophile gear!
We bought this system for a second home and paired it with a very large Samsung TV. The integration between the two was easy and excellent. The built-in Samsung "smart tv" software is fine, but not great. The sound for theatre usage is excellent: loud and clear, with the sub-woofer doing its thing as expected. It's really for theatre usage. It works great with Spotify and other audio sources, but it's NOT audiophile gear. For music, it's overly bright and the soundbar drivers don't really offer much airiness on vocals, acoustic strings and the like. That being said, it's a great theatre system, easily installed and an excellent value.

Shard, Crisp and Fantastic surround.
I have a number of soundbars in my day. This one was probably the most expensive at $888, but wow it sounds great. You can tell right away when you just take it out of the box. It weighs like well over 100 pounds. Super crisp and sharp with vocals very easy to understand (others sounded a bit muffled). When you have like impact effects the soundbar kicks in. I read some reviews where they said it was a great bar, but the sub was a bit weak. They had it set up wrong. The very cool thing is that it also has two surround speakers. They are wired, so that is a bit of a drag, but I read where you can put them upfront next to the bar and that looks good and sounds great. The reason is that they have two up shooting cones in the bar and one each in the surrounds (along with forward shooting cones). Then they have it timed such that the up shooting cones hit the roof and bounce back down and sound to you like they are coming from behind. Sounds crazy but this the best surround systems I have heard. If you get one, mount it like I say.

Sound bar has been great so far.
I have used this sound bar for a week now and it seems like a winner to me. I ordered it used/renewed/refurbished (Which, I don't remember) and it looks great out of the box. No issues setting up all important stuff was included as far as I'm aware. I have had issues out of the app but its not too important to me at this point. I dont have a samsung TV so I cant try out Q-Symphony or what ever its called. I really dislike proprietary things because of things like this. But what ever, atmos still works. Only issue with that is I have not found much streaming content out there except for Netflix that puts the bar into Atmos mode. There is allot of content on Netflix that says Atmos but not allot that I want to watch at this point. So ill have to get back to you when I get a good amount of that content watched. I subtracted 1 star from sound quality because I watch allot of music video content on youtube and my old 2.1 channel bose system was a little better for this. I could put the sound bar into standard mode but then it sounds a bit lifeless even with EQ. So that is my only minor issue with the sound so far. I do wish the LCD screen was a little bigger. Its hard to read as only 3 characters fit on the screen at a time and the text scrolls slow so you have to store the characters in memory and wait for the next 3 to show up and append it then put them together in your head to figure out what it says. So things are abbreviated and confusing to remember. The app is a better choice if it works as mentioned above. Over all Im happy with my purchase especially at nearly half the price of a new unit!
