Flight Identification of European Seabirds (Helm Identification Guides)

This is an excellent, informative book. The photos are much better than some of the other reviews suggest. I live near to the Northumberland coast and regularly get to watch sea birds often at distance. This book is proving really helpful and adds to my enjoyment

I am new to birding and am volunteering with an organisation that records sea bird sightings from vessels. I cannot recommend this book highly enough; a fellow very experienced volunteer had this book on a survey I took part in and it proved very helpful to me so I bought myself a copy. In a setting where birds are likely to be moving and are often far away, it is very useful to have a book that includes such good photos as an aide to identifying seabirds. A fantastic book for beginners and experts alike.

The order came on time and is brand new.This book is heavy! and full of info and will be a great help in identifying birds, it was recommended to me and it seems very thorough so far.The only thing it has going against it is that not all the photo's are in focus, but in saying that they are still good enough quality that you would not confuse the bird for any other similar bird. Photo's are definitely better than drawings or sketches! So this book is doing very well to have so many species all accounted for in photo format and close-up!

If pelagic birds is your thing, or even if you need to brush up on your knowledge of seabirds, then this book is for you. Superb photographs and detailed descriptions give you a great insight into the birds listed. Will make you want to head out and do a seawatch, I can guarantee it !!

My husband asked me to order this book as he is a very keen ornithologist. I think he must be enjoying it, he reads it every night. He is very fussy about the quality of bird books.

This is a most useful book, beautifully illustrated and helps greatly with the identification of seabirds, something I haven't found easy to do even when I am standing near them observing.

A very useful book! Even if You might wish some flock pictures were sharper, they present You a view in "normal" situations.

Sehr oft sieht man am Meer auch Vögel. Doch sehr oft sind sie weit entfernt, fliegen schnell vorbei oder die Lichtverhältnisse sind schwierig. Darauf geht dieses sehr zu empfehlende Werk ein. Es bringt viele Fotos, die so wirken, wie man die Vögel oft auch sieht und beschreibt hervorragend, auf was man achten muss, um die jeweilige Art korrekt beschreiben zu können. Besonders Möwen und Seeschwalbe, oft nicht leicht zu bestimmen, sind so besprochen und dargestellt, dass dieses Buch eine echte zusätzliche Hilfe ist.

Super ouvrage

Truly recommendable to identify these bird species in flight.The Pics are pretty old and really the best quality which only adds to the purpose of showing what to look for in real situations that helps successful identification.
