Great movie! If only it had Yoshi!
Take this film at face value! It's for kids, but it is great for parents to watch as well! We really can't stop singing "Peaches" in our house! Jack Black knocked it out of the park again! The beginning and some parts with Bowser can be a little frightening, but if your young one can get through it, then the facade is dropped quite quickly and Bowser is a much funnier antagonist than scary. It is an enjoyable movie overall, with lots of jokes and Easter eggs for parents and Mario fans alike! We love this film, and I’m sure you will too! The only downside is there's no Yoshi… my daughter is a little sad about this!

Highly entertaining, one of the better films based on a video game franchise.
My three kids, ages 5, 7 and 10 all loved this movie (as did I)! Our whole family is in a bit of a Mario phase right now after getting a Switch for Christmas and playing a few games from the long running series. The film is definitely one of the better game to film efforts and there is plenty to enjoy both for new fans and die hards alike. I know there was an older Mario movie made back in the 90s, but this new one blows it out of the water.

Way Too Short A Movie (still a win win situation)
I got this just for another watch of it as it’s not really expensive on DVD & again I enjoyed it but it’s way too short! The modern animation is superb & it is crisp & colourful & the sounds are superb too just like they are on any of Nintendo’s little plumber/heroes massive catalogue of games for that time period. There was a lot of hassle when the actors who were voicing the characters was made public but they all work, it works very well in fact & I love how there’s a hidden sign like an in-jokes on almost every other scene that relates to something from the Nintendo or the Super Mario Bros: franchises from their beginnings up to the modern day.A lot of people were saying (arguing really) that some people are too young to understand it or know this & that from the games older days which I thought was a silly argument as for those who do ‘understand’ movies you’ve got to be older no matter what the movie is about & it’s no matter what it’s age rating is & here yes you have to be an older Nintendo owner & lifelong follower to enjoy all of the little in-jokes but stick a child in front of the telly & put this on & they’ll be glued, they’ll laugh & be extremely attentive to what’s happening on screen & will watch it over & over & over again without doubt, it was just silly unnecessary arguments made over nothing of real substance or genuine importance really as absolutely nobody anywhere knew anything (not one thing!) about Woody & Buzz Lightyear no one knew those names but it worked on a massive scale & so did this in a different way it’s biggest & only problem is that it is way too short!I bought this to watch as it always makes much more sense to me than renting it as it never making my DVD collection (only the finest in my opinion which is very few do) I just wanted to watch it again & I often do this, so now I’ve watched it & it’s in brilliant condition & I’ll pop them in to the local charity shop for others to own & watch for less than I payed for it.I get to watch these movies, Amazon still makes a few pound per movie, DVD sales aren’t completely disappearing, I watch in my own time & someone else gets it for a couple of quid or so (depending on the DVD & the number of them I take up) & the charity shop ultimately the charity (British Red Cross in this case) gets that money, that’s called a “Win, Win” situation.
