great for wood work, superb value
comes very sharp out of the sheath and is a carving beast: eats wood with a minimal effort due to the scandi grind. on a flip side, does not slice but chops through fruit and veggies (expected). hard to find anything comparable for $15. stainless on top of this all

This knife is amazing absolutely amazing
Friends, the knife is nothing to look at. It doesn’t look cool. It’s very plain, but the handle is very ergonomic and more importantly than even that the quality of the blade is amazing. I bought a fresh scar hatchet to process some firewood for a small camping stove it was ridiculous. The effort I had to put into it. I just took one of the small logs and took.THIS knife and baton it. It cut it up almost like butter I was impressed and there wasn’t a single niche or not in the knife. It made me wanna go back and get the higher grade one

Best knife below $50 -- I meticulously researched it
I am a huge fan of Morakniv. I don't know that I will ever buy another brand of outdoor and utility knife. Before the rest, it's important to note that this knife is in what Morakniv calls "Dala red." It's supposed to imitate mahogany, so it is rather brown, too. I'm not sure I'd have bought THIS particular color if I knew that-- the display pictures are a much brighter red -- I'm worried about losing it in the woods.Another thing -- not a complaint or a con, but a wake up call -- this knife is incredibly sharp. Not for a person who can't maintain full attention on the knife edge while using. Always know where you edge is and where your fingers are, and never the twain shall they meet! I'm serious; it's not for a kid, either. It's dangerous! Not in a cute way. When I got my first Morakniv my hands and fingers were covered in slices and knicks, for weeks, and they are all like papercut thin, but deeper, because that's the kind of point the edge comes to. In that time, it got to the point where I simply marveled at the knowledge that I had YET AGAIN cut myself. After telling myself 50 times already to watch it. That point is dangerous, but very useful in boring holes in woods. WATCH IT! Closely! After those cautions: I am a serious fan!! I'm here to buy another Companion because they are sooooo perfect for my uses. Everyday I'm in the outdoors -- yard and farm work, plus camping and learning survival skills in the woods, Building, too. This almost indestructible knife actually has a straight-forward destroyer -- me. I've ruined the edge on the first Morakniv I bought by trying to sharpen it and only rounding off the beautiful, crisp edge and changing the bevel by accident. As I'm not a machine, I'll never be able to recapture that type of edge, so I gave up and come back for more. Don't sharpen it on any type of stone! Only use a sharpening steel to remove the burrs that form during use. Morakniv steel is very strong; I failed to see the edge did not need to reshaped or sharpened. Believe me, I've watched a ton of knife sharpening YT videos and practiced technique, before and after buying. Keep the edge Morakniv gives you, as it's the best you'll ever have on this knife.Otherwise, enjoy the heck out of this knife/tool. You made the best choice!

Sturdy utility knife
These are tough knives; you can use it for whittling, or use a heavy stick to hammer it through firewood and make kindling, and it'll take the abuse without the blade getting loose or chipping. The brighter colours are great, too, because it's a lot easier to spot if you drop it, compared to "cool" colours like black or camo. I got my first Morakniv through a wilderness survival program that only uses these knives, and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a sturdy outdoor utility knife.
