Q: Is the bottom clear acrylic/plastic??

The clear bottom is made of high impact polycarbonate that can be washed on the top rack in a dishwasher.

Q: Hardly any use! I see them perch on it & look around confused, even peck around some & look confused. I'm sure they're not stupid why?

That is strange. I have two of these feeders. Hummingbirds fight over them morning to night. They are always in use. You could check to make sure the plastic holes that lead down into the sugarwater well are not blocked by anything. All birds like feeders to be in a "safespace" meaning, hung under or near greenery for quick shelter/escape from predators. Avoid premade red liquid feed. For each feeder, I heat 1 cup water, add 1/4 cup sugar and stir til all sugar dissolved, water is clear looking. Once sugarwater is at room temp or cool (doesn't take long) I pour into feeder and hang. I live in warm climate so I change fluid almost daily and rinse/clean feeders w/hot water weekly as sugar/warm temps can create bacteria that harms birds.) Avoid using strong detergents and cleaning sprays. Toxic to wildlife. Hope this helps!

Q: My 8oz hummerfest feeder top turned opaque after a dishwasher cycle. can it be replaced by birds choice?

Generally it cost more to ship and replace just the top, then it does to just order a completely new unit. If you are asking them to replace something you destroyed, all i can say is good luck.

Q: are nectar guard tips available for this feeder. I bought this feeder and bees are all over it. Other feeder with guard tips help

If you are talking about the little yellow inserts that look like flowers.. I bought some and they wouldn't work on this type. I believe it has to be the type you can actually replace the little yellow tips.
