It works, but be gentle if you have long hair
So, to be fair, the product works very well/as-advertised, at least in the black color I used. I waited a month to review the product so I could give the most realistic feedback possible. To start, THIS PRODUCT MUST BE USED ON DRY HAIR!! It's absolutely not what I was looking for but that's more my fault than anything else. Truthfully, I did not read the product directions before purchasing, just the reviews from other customers. I thought this would be a product I could use in the shower that I could dilute by mixing into my regular shampoo since I wanted an *almost black* color and the browns they offer just aren't that dark. I had previously used Overtone conditioners before this and I hated how laborious it was to work all the conditioner into every strand/wait 2 hours for best results. Waiting 20 minutes with this product is great. When I used to use actual hair dye that's the average time I would wait, but I didn't want to commit to full-blown dye again instead of a stain. One thing to note is that I have very long, medium-thick hair down to my hips and that's a lot of ground to cover when my hair is dry. I almost never put product in my hair when it isn't damp/wet for that reason. The bottle is enormous so there's tons of product to spare, but working it into my hair was where I went wrong. IF YOU REGULARLY HAVE A LOT OF HAIR FALL/SHED, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIDENT YOU CAN ***GENTLY*** WORK PRODUCT THROUGH YOUR DRY HAIR. When I went to rinse this product out of my hair in the shower, the AMOUNT of hair that came out of my head and got caught in my drain hair trap sent me into a full-on panic. To the point where I grabbed my phone mid-shower and took a picture of the bottle's ingredients to input into ChatGPT and confirm none of the ingredients opened hair follicles and acted as an actual dye rather than a stain-- meaning a chemical reaction (aka chemical cut) that could damage my hair and cause further hair loss. Everything came back fine and it's just a henna/walnut-based stain, but the motion of having to work that in so vigorously caused a lot of hair to come loose. My hair was visibly less full after use, but it was very shiny and moisturized! I already use other products for growth encouragement so I know I will bounce back, but if I ever use this product again I will part my hair into very small sections and be gentle. Now, the product itself is STRONG! I made the mistake of not wearing gloves as most stains I've used in the past do not linger on my skin and nails more than a day. Now a month in, my nails are still slightly tinted black from the product and you can see a clear line where the new growth on my nails is. I wash my hands 15-20 times a day so I am pretty impressed. My hair is still BLACK a month later and has only faded the slightest bit. I wash my hair twice a week and I was hoping to see a little more lightening up but at least I won't have to redo my ends as they tend to lighten up in the summer sun. A word of caution- this stains everything except for tile, for some reason? Which is nice for my shower, but I did drop some on my carpet and that will probably be there forever now. The black tint does not develop right away and it's rather light in color, so by the time I noticed it on the carpet the damage was done, had I wiped it away when I first dropped it that may have been a different story. If you want to go dark and stay dark, this is a very reliable product. I used the henna blocks from LUSH when I was in college and this is way less messy. My aunt was looking for something quicker and easier to cover up her grays every two weeks so she tried one of the medium-browns and absolutely loves it. She has a short bob and did not experience any hair-fall, so I think this may be specific to the length of my hair.

Highly recommended
If you are looking for a product to dye your hair in a more natural way, this is the best option. Plus, it offers 100% gray coverage and is easy to use. A tip: when rinsing out the product, don't forget to use a good moisturizing hair mask. Otherwise, your hair could end up a bit dry.

Total Garbage!
Don’t buy this! It’s garbage! My hair was falling out after use and the color came out jet black when the box said medium brown, which is what I ordered.

Stains!
I have tried this brand, but in dark brown, it was great. Did not stain, full grey coverage. This time I wanted to have it darker since the dark brown seemed more like light brown. I used gloves and container to mix product, any little drop stained, and when I tried wiping it with a clorax wipes it spread the product and just spread the stain. My ear stained and parts of my face, I couldn’t get it out with anything. I tried regular shampoo, Exfoliants, makeup wipe, and acetone ( yes acetone ). I read that henna stains can be removed with Lemon ( didn’t have any ), hydrogen peroxide ( didn’t work ), baking soda (on it’s own didn’t work). So I had also tried Dawn dish soap, nothing. I remembered using baking soda and dawn for a stain on something so I tried that, and it worked!!! The finish was impeccable, amd I loved it, but not sure if I’ll use the black again.
