Same here, I always wear things like this, I haven’t had a bra in over 11 plus years lol. You’ll defiantly see some Nips poking out a little But it’s nothing too out there ha ha. Fabric is thick enough too. also holds your chest into place nicely.

Normally a medium (5'3 34D bit of a tummy athletic build) should i size yp to a L/XL for a not so tight fit?

Depending on how you like to wear your clothes M/L is a little snug but is still stretchy. If I bought one again ,I think I’d do the XL so that I can have a little more flare. I’m 5”3 175, athletic build not much of a chest but I do have a wider back area.
