Versatile little tuber from sedge grasses. Makes very good milk. Lots of trace elements, full of probiotic fibre.
Well produced, organic Tiger nuts from Spain. I've never been interested in trying to eat these as they are - to me, they're like trying to eat a slightly sweet, dried chickpea, and about as appetising - but as a dairy free, nut free 'milk' I like these. The 'milk' is easy to make by soaking a mugful of these little tubers overnight in cold water, straining them and then blitzing the soaked nuts in a blender with a litre of cold water, a pinch of salt and a teaspoonful of sugar. Squeeze out through a nut milk bag in exactly the same way as any nut milk, decant into a fridge jug and refrigerate. The milk tastes light, refreshing and not unlike semi skimmed dairy milk from cows fed on sweet grasses and not on concentrates. The leftover pulp can be slowly dried in the oven, and used in veggie dishes, stuffings, as an alternative to breadcrumbs, or a tablespoonful added to smoothies, soups or curries to thicken. The dried pulp crumbs last for ages in an airtight jar.If I end up with pulp I'm not going to be using anytime soon, either from nut milks or Tiger milk, it makes a great feast for garden birds if mixed up with a few raisins, leftover cake, etc and soaked in melted lard and left to set. The slabs are fiercely fought over on the bird table. Nothing is wasted!

Nutty tubers!
These tubers (which is what they are, not nuts grown on trees) are regarded as weeds in many countries and apparently some areas of the world use tiger nuts as enemas. I'll stick to eating them! According to the Daily Mail (if you believe everything you read there) they are tubers of a plant called the yellow nutsedge and are high in iron, potassium, magnesium and Vitamins C and E I'm going to be bursting with health! Quality appears to be good. Arrived within 48 hours and well enough packed. Cheaper elsewhere, but with Prime ...! One warning. If you eat too many and they are not sufficiently moist, you may well finish up with a severe case of constipation. They do dry out quite quickly, but it appears you can soak them in water to restore their sweet soft nuttiness. Trouble is, once I start eating them I never know when to stop.

A taste of nostalgia
I used to love these when I was a child and were a regular purchase in a little paper bag but for some reason they vanished and I've never saw them again until now. I purchases the largest bag so I could share them as nobody I have spoken to remember them or have heard of them before. They are exactly the same as I remember and taste delicious. Very fresh nuts and a sweet tasting. Tiger nuts were promoted on a channel 4 good show this week and have scientific evidence of being good for the intestines to combat bad bacteria. I logged into amazon to order another delivery of the nuts but sadly they are no longer available and don't know if they will stock them again which is a shame as I only placed my last order a fortnight ago.

Needs to declare potential allergens within product listing.
The Tiger Nuts themselves may be lovely. This 1 star review is contributed to highlight a failure within the product description at the time of writing - and I will correct it (if prompted) if the failure is fixed. The failure is to declare an allergen warning within the description. I ordered on 07 August and upon receipt discovered a "May Contain Gluten" type warning on the packet, along with mention of other allergens. The actual risk may be negligible but the problem is that such precautionary warnings *must* be provided at the point of sale so that the consumer is aware of the risk prior to purchase. As a result of the absence from the product listing I experienced the inconvenience of purchasing, receiving and returning a product I was not willing to take the unknown risk of consuming. For context, I am coeliac and therefore must avoid traces of gluten.

I liked them but after a while I got a bit ...
4 stars. I liked them but after a while I got a bit sick of them. Maybe should have bought a smaller bag. Still got a load on the side left in the bag. Tried feeding them to some local wildlife but they weren't having none of it.

Yep! Quite Enjoyed Them.
An interesting product. Found it best to soak over night starting in boiling water then drain else impossible on the teeth. Has a pleasant sweet nutty flavour and quite fibrous,.

Ok but lacks the flavour of unpeeled nuts.
I love tiger nuts but I had never tried the peeled variety before. After trying this product, I would definitely stick with unpeeled nuts because i found these less flavorful in comparison. They are however easier to consume.

Problem is I cant leave them alone!
I had forgotten these little gems existed after 30 years of not having them. I read in one of my healthy gut books that they're great for intestinal health providing lots of soluble fibre for intestinal flora to feed on which is why I searched for them on Amazon. They arrived yesterday and my goodness they are delicious! They are chewy but not tough, sweet and so satisfying. I,m really going to need a bit of self discipline or I'll have scoffed the lot in a week.
