Great addition to our deck!
I am beyond impressed with this product - from the design, to the assembly process, to the customer service! Here are the key points: - It looks great! It's lightweight, but sturdy, with a wonderful finish on the aluminum and great quality canvas on the shade. Also, I was so happy to see that they don't use stickers that leave a residue on the product when you peel them off! BONUS POINTS! - It goes together easily! My husband and I were able to assemble it in less than 2 hours! Now, that being said, I'm one of those weirdos that enjoys assembling furniture in the dim light, with a glass of wine and some calming instrumentals on a Saturday night. It brings me calm when most people would be cursing everyone that thinks that Ikea is something other than a torture superstore. - The customer service was great! As said in a few other reviews - I received an incorrect piece, contacted the seller, and had a new one at my door before the week was through. They were prompt, helpful and communicative. - The only challenge we had during the whole process was getting the seal on the upright posts onto both the upper and lower sections in order to screw the support in. Not a huge deal though - just took a little more patience and elbow grease (luckily we had a fresh can ready). Honestly, I'm glad the seal fits that tightly! Just be prepared for a little annoyance and fingertip pain when you get to that part. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU FOR ASSEMBLY: Don't tighten the screws on each step until all of them are in. I had no issues getting them aligned, didn't have to route out any holes to make them fit, I just got them all in place before I cranked down on the wrench. The parts are very well engineered, labeled consistently and come with very clear instructions. TL;DR: If you are looking for a pergola, this one is great quality at a great price.

Attractive, reasonably priced and well made
This pergola is made extremely sturdy. I love the fact that you can retract easily and itโs aesthetically pleasing. I canโt speak to assembly as I had it put together professionally. I am particularly happy they did not drill my brand new deck but bolted it between the decking with wing nuts underneath so if I want to move it for any reason thereโs no holes in my decking I would give this 5 stars all day long

Great budget pergola
The pergola is nice, went together relatively easy, aside from some wrong info on the instructions. My only point of concern is the base posts, at all four posts they are only connected by two screws, with 8 total. I am afraid that through time they will be a weak point and break, only time will tell. I also wish the aluminum was a bit thicker. Overall satisfied and happy with my purchase. Though I did have any dented material, I did get two parts that were broken. But I am happy with the way it looks and ease of use.

Great Product and Amazing Company -- Solid Customer Service
I bought 2 of the 11' x 13' pergolas with the retractable canopy. The assembly was straight forward. We have had these up for about a year now. They are wonderful. They are functional and look great! I recently needed to order some replacement parts. Purple Leaf was responsive to my request and was able to send me the needed parts very quickly! I'm super impressed with their customer service. We are looking at purchasing another pergola for another project. I highly recommend this company and this product.

After 7 months of use I can say it is worth every penny!
We absolutely love this pergola! We put it up in Aprilโseven months in and itโs still going strong. We got the 10โ x 10โ, and itโs big enough for a couch and loveseat with a gas firepit or table in the middle. We had tore down a shed that was on a concrete slab and put this in it's place. Went out and bought a mid-range Milwaukee hammer drill (attempted with a cordless ryobi but it wasn't powerful enough) and bolted the thing down. When I put up the pergola cover it was a windy day and I got worried because the joints in the poles didn't seem strong enough. I reinforced with some electrical tape where they connect and we haven't had any problems. Handles moderate wind fine but if I see that the gusts will be over 30 mph I close it to be safe. All you have to do to close it is slide it forward and use the pull strap to hook onto the pergola rafter right above it. Handles rain fine, if we know it is going to be a very heavy rain we close it but if it is just regular rain we have not had issues. The rain empties out of the sides and not much of it pools. After the rain i just take the broom and empty out the rain. We added some tarps to the side for extra shade. Attached them with removable zip ties so we can easily roll them up if we know a wind storm is coming. Got some quick connecting wood tiles for the floor to make everything look nice. We really love our setup. This was worth every penny. Will update if we get a hurricane, we got lucky this year. Had a positive experience with customer service as well. One small piece (the thing that holds/secures the pergola when open) was bent and I contacted them about it just to let them know because I was afraid that it would cost an issue. I bent it back in place and everything was fine. Customer support was responsive and even though everything worked out they still refunded me a few bucks (can't rememeber, maybe 10ish) and checked up on me to make sure everything went well.

Nice for the price!
The item arrived several days earlier than the original shipping estimate and upon arrival everything was well packaged and all parts were there. One "A" post had a small dent and one "X" connector piece seems to have a small chunk of finish chipped off to reveal red underneath for some reason, but neither is really noticeable. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. My husband and I assembled it in around 2 hours with no issues, but an extra set of hands would've been helpful at a point. The pergola looks beautiful and provides a great amount of shade for our patio! The locking mechanism to keep the shade fully extended works well so far, but I do wish there was a system for securing the canopy while it's fully tucked away. If you just slide it over to the side to leave the top exposed, the wind easily blows the canopy halfway open and the wheels running on the track are quite noisy. We looped the strap that hangs from the canopy around the jut out of the cross beam that sticks out above it to hold it fully tucked away and it seems to be working so far. All in all, we're very happy with our purchase!

8 out 10 wouldnโt buy again
For the cost, itโs a great addition to my back yard, HOWEVER, one of my beams came with a gash in it which seems to be an issue reading other reviews. I am also missing one of the rollers that the canopy attaches to in order to open and close the canopy, quite annoying since the step to assemble those is half way through the process (yes, I should have counted before beginning but honestly, what percentage of people actually do that). The instructions are okay but the step where it requires a separator to be added between the 2 posts doesnโt actually work in the 10x13 model (or at least it didnโt with mine). The screw holes are hard to line up when adding multiple pieces and part but not least, the black elastic loop they hold the canopy in place snapped so we had to rig it. The material for the canopy seems to be good quality, we will see how it holds up in the scorching Phoenix summer sun. Iโm not convinced of the sturdiness of the structure but we will also see how it holds up once I anchor it in the ground.

Great Pergola - Great Customer Service
The 11x13 pergola is exactly what we needed for our deck. It was easy to assemble (definitely a 2 person build after basic assembly is complete), and took a few hours to complete. The quality of the assembled pergola is very good and looks great. After it was assembled, my only real concern occurred. The pull back canopy only pops into a friction holder. If you have zero wind this is fine, but we have a breezy (not gusty or steady wind, just a light breeze that is steady) area and the wind caused the canopy to pull out of the friction holder quite easily. And because of this, the canopy tried to close all the way, but the wind caused the canopy to be cockeyed and this caused a roller to break and the first poll came apart. This leads to my second positive point. I contacted customer service about ordering a new roller and they instantly offered to send a free replacement. I received the new roller in a couple days and have since replaced it in the pergola. The pergola looks great and is holding together great. One concern is when the canopy is closed. There is nothing that holds it in place, so the wind causes it to slide back and forth unless secured (we have a bungee around it currently to keep it in place).

Excellent customer service
Great quality Pergola and pretty easy to assemble. Very stable when assembled. Things do go wrong from time to time and I found that there were two rollers missing for the sun canopy. Contacted customer support and they were extremely helpful and very quick to respond. Can't fault the Purple Leaf Customer support and service team one bit.

Good quality pergola
We have now built the Pergola and are very pleased with it - although this is a good days job to do. There were a couple of tiny dents in a couple of the parts, and a some areas of where the paint is not perfect, but nothing so serious as to detract from the overall quality. Once it is all erected and screwed together it becomes much more rigid and easily competes with some other products at a more expensive price. Just as helpful hints, I kept most of the polythene wrap and bubble wrap on whilst building this - it helped avoid a few scratches. I also assembled the legs and cross members first before starting to bolt it all together. I would also suggest you need at least three people to get the legs and crossmembers attached (four if you can) - as until bolted together it is not rigid enough to support its own weight and at this stage, if a leg starts to move it could easily damage or at least strain the joints. On a final note, you have grey bolt head covers for all of the chrome bolt heads that look great. However, for some reason NOT for the bolt heads for screwing the base - they would be better with covers as well but are of a different head size - they now stand out and could look better with a grey cover. The overall quality is very good - I just hope that in a couple years after exposure to the UK weather, it still looks good and has not started to rust away!

great pergola for the price
Lots of reviews stating 2 hours to put together, not a chance. Great bit of kit every item marked so very easy to follow instructions. Some good advice take the complete box to the area you intent to install, to save a lot of back ache ideally have 2 benches (I used 2 patio tables) lay all items out and check in case of missing parts, you can put all parts together by oneself until you need to stand the frame up then itโs a 2 person process all very easy if you follow instructions closely.

Absolutely lovely
I had read a number of reviews and was a little concerned. We had used a parasol but this takes up a lot of ground space and would spoil our new artificial lawn. We then tried a sail but this looked awful. Then discovered the pergola with a retractable top. It was easy to assemble with just my husband and I. There are no additional tools required as everything is included. The instructions for us were easy to follow. We didn't go for the cheapest make and it was worth it. Highly recommend the item. I noticed a small fault in the fabric and contacted customer services who immediately sent a replacement cover which I shall keep for next year. Thank you for all your help and speedy reply.

Amazing value!! Great built!
This is really good value - it was eat to build ( my husband said ๐ ) but looks lovely really sturdy we did cement into the ground as we live in the middle of nowhere and in the winter it gets extremely windy! I am very happy with it ๐ also we went to a local garden centre and saw one that was not as good quality as ours and not as sturdy as our double the price so that made me even more happy!! ๐
