Funny Stories For 8 Year Olds (Macmillan Children's Books Story Collections, 7)

bought for my granddaughter she loves it.

Have been using this series of books - sought out during lockdowns to read stories to my granddaughter over FaceTime each day. Helen Paiba - who, for over 20 years, owned and ran a children's bookshop in Muswell Hill is obviously one of the best people to make fun, interesting, age appropriate choices. The stories are sometimes excerpts from full length books - but still make sense in themselves. I have followed up some of these and purchased the author's full length books.You come across the occasional word a youngster may not know but this gives rise to a useful conversation and helps widen the child's knowledge - we often go off on a fun tangent. Having said that it's well within the general ability of each age range.Have now read all her Funny stories for 7 years olds, nearly finished this 8 year olds one and got the 9 year olds on order. Helen Paiba also has other series too.

My boys laugh at the stories and have enjoyed this book, delivered on time and as described- what more can you ask thanks

Bought for 8 year old boy and he loves it

I personally found the cover story hilarious but the rest of the book disappointing. My eight year old enjoyed the book but didn't really laugh at all (yes, she has got a sense of humour normally). Many of the stories were extracts from books. Out of context, without the character development that would have preceded it in the original books, they lost some of the humour for a child who has not read the originals (and if they have, what point is there in buying excerpts). Sorry to be a damp squib.

My grandson of eight years old loved this book, I bought it without him and he thought it was a good choice!

My son is 7 and he seems to lime this chaper book... He seems to remember the stories and can answer questions for reading comprehension with it, which is great because usually he doesn't remember what he reads .....

Book is entertaining one but the only problem is with delivery. Blue dart doesn't give home delivery every time we need to go and collect
