Holster
This holster is one of many that I really like wearing. It’s very comfortable and not as bulky which is a plus! I would definitely recommend this one.

Superb and perfect for XD40 Model
I have the Springfield XD40. It's about 4 inches in length. This XD40 is the model that is considered the compact. It is not small at all, the small one is the s model...and that "S" model is the subcompact...that is small and is good for concealed carry. This Holster here is for OWB (outside waistband)Carry and therefore is perfect for my XD40 which is compact (not small or hiuge). NOW- The "XD40 Tactical" is the big one, it is 5" and I am pretty certain that this holster fits that also. Mine (the XD40) which again is compact at 4" fits this holster perfect. Yes I'm being redundent in case anyone is struggling with their model Springfield.Review: Exceptional in everyway. Gun snaps in easily, holds tight with zero play or movement and then releases with the light push of a button. The button is on the holster and is right in line with your trigger finger as it slides down the holster(as your grabbing the weapon). Everything lines up, it's design is very good.Rugged, good-looking, quality in every way. It is black and came with the paddle and the belt attachment. 3 screws holds the actual gun cradle to your chosen "attachment". The paddle is well made and will not fall out of your waistband, it is well built. The belt attachment stays upright, doesn't sag or twist and doesn't require a special belt, although you can put a wide duty utility belt through it. I guess this is considered a level II holster Level I means you can pull the gun out of holster with zero interference...basically the gun can fall out if you are upside down. Level II means you have to operate a lever, or switch, or button, or snap or something -one time, to release weapon (that's this holster) with it's push button, Level III means you operate the Level II control and then also still have to move weapon, in some way, in the holster, during release/removal, to get it out. This level 3 is supposed to make it especially difficult for someone to come up behind you and remove your firearm. I didn't spelll check-goodluck

Hard to Complain about Perfection
I love my SERPA CQC holster for my Springfield XD9 compact. The only improvement I could think of was making it a bit shorter in the barrel area as my compact is just 3.5" and the holster is made to fit up to a 4.5" barrel. So I used my band saw to slice off 3/4" of the holster and then sandpapered the edges into a bevel so it wouldn't snag. Works like it was made exactly for the XD compact now and no extra holster at the barrel end. I did leave about 1/4" beyond the end of the barrel to protect it and keep it out of harms way. The finger release is perfect for fast draws and my finger NEVER has ended up in the trigger guard when drawing over 500 times. You would really have to be poorly trained and inattentive to get it wrong. And if you find your finger inside the trigger guard drawing from this holster, you may need to rethink how you draw any weapon from your holsters. The SERPA is a solid performer and this model includes both a paddle and a belt loop attachment system. The slant can be adjusted and it conceals pretty well for an outside, on the belt holster. Retention and re-holstering of the weapon are top-notch.

don't just follow the hype train of hate on the SERPA holsters I see all over the ...
SERPA holsters are controversial, but I want to say, if you have not actually tried one, don't just follow the hype train of hate on the SERPA holsters I see all over the internet. I have never had a problem with falling onto the trigger on draw, I can see how someone could, but even trying to force it, it is not a problem for my hands. The holster itself is very solid, light, and well finished. The mounting system gives you good versatility in mounting options. I love the retention of this holster when I move around with my weapon I am fully confidant that I will not lose my weapon. I am aware of the concerns with debris wedged behind the release to prevent draw of the weapon. That has not happened to me, but I have not put my holster into a situation for this to happen. I would recommend the SERPA for anyone looking for a polymer holster with active retention who is willing to train themselves to ensure they draw the weapon safely.

Fits XDM 4.5 .40
I have three BlackHawk CQC holsters so far. They're not the most comfortable on the hip though. Honestly my AlienGear Cloak Tuck 2.0 feels better - but that's an IWB.I will say that the belt clip attachment is annoying. I find it difficult to put on in the first place. It's really stiff, which is good I suppose, but it's difficult for me to get it over my belt and or pants. I primarily use the belt loop attachment only for this reason. That's not the most convenient thing as I'd love to have an OWB clip on that's quick and easy when I get in and out of my vehicle.

Solid - Dependable
Wanted a comfortable, secure "paddle" type holster for my XD45. Spent a fairly significant amount of time researching the alternatives before I came upon the SERPA.After reading the reviews, decided that this was probably the best option. Glad I did. Received the holster with the belt loop attached. Changed that out very easily, adjusted the carry angle, attached the belt hooks and "WOW"! Immediate difference. I conceal carry my XD and for several years have been using the factory holster, which I found to be actually rather nice. The SERPA takes it to a whole different level. It feels much more secure against my body and moves with me to a much greater degree. The release button falls naturally to hand without any thought whatsoever, and there is a reassuring "click" upon holstering the weapon. IMHO, the perfect holster for the Springfield XD 45. Maybe not for concealed carry, but certainly for open carry...
