Pet Photography: The Secrets to Creating Authentic Pet Portraits

I purchased this book because a friend that has taken one of Norah's classes in Santa Fe, NM recommended it. What a great recommendation, this book is insightful and really beautiful. My husband and I are pet people and we both love the pictures as well as the information on "How To". This is a must for anyone that wants to learn how to photograph their pets. Oh, and it's Cat approved... Xena finished it before dinner.

The is a must-have book for anyone interested in photographing pets, from hobbyists to professional photographers. Norah Levine provides detailed information on how to create beautiful and artistic portraits of our furry (and even feathered) friends, including the recommended equipment, lighting and exposure, color and composition, how to prepare for and perform photo shoots, and information on how to handle dogs, cats, horses, and other animals during photo shoots. There are even chapters devoted to personal projects and volunteering photography skills to animal rescue groups. Norah also includes many of her photographs, along with tips on how to create similar images, and her love of animals is evident throughout her book. This is a colorful, well-written, and very informative guide to pet photography, and I know I'll be referring back to it many times as I continue to explore pet photography.

Norah Levine is passionate about her craft. I’ve had the opportunity to watch her work several times and have always been impressed at how intuitively she engages with a pet. Her photos capture the personality of the animal and the essence of its relationship with its human family. In this book, Norah shares her way of approaching and connecting with each animal she photographs. She offers methods and techniques that will help both amateur and professional photographer take better pet photos.

If you are a beginner or even just interested in pet photography, this is a great read with a lot of topic coverage.

I love this book. It's easy to follow and really breaks it down step by step. Norah did a great job taking you through everything you need to know to get great pet images. Even the look and feel of this book is inviting.

When I ordered this book my expectations were to learn few tricks about pet photography, and frankly to have a new coffee table book with beautiful pet pictures. The book offers much more. It is the perfect resource for people, who want to start a pet photography business, or in the process of taking their hobby to the next level. The book has timeless recommendations and tips to make you a better pet photographer, and more importantly to help you with your photography sessions. You can be a great photographer but if you don’t truly understand the pets, you will not perform as well, and you will not enjoy the work as much. If you are struggling during pet photography sessions and maybe working with pets in general, this book will definitely help, highly recommended.
