Great Ride!
Out of the box, the front fork was badly bent. I called vender customer service. They were easy to get along with and very knowledgable. The bike was replaced within a week. I have 120 miles on it now and I love this ride. Its a little heavy but very stable smooth ride with the mono-shock. Its a great road bike as well as a tuff stable trail/mountian bike. So far, so good.

Bad welding. Bent dropouts/caliper. Cannot be assembled. Terrible quality!
This is horrible! Technically an inexpensive bike. However at $546.95 after shipping the bike arrived in a condition that it cannot be remotely assembled. The front forks have ears on them for the dropouts that are welded crooked and misaligned. Not crooked or misaligned but literally crooked AND misaligned. The brake caliper is also welded on and guess what its also crooked. There is no possible way to install the front axle into the dropouts and the caliper with the wheel anywhere near straight. In fact the wheel rubs the forks. Ive assembled a lot of mountain bikes and even in the cheapest brands I have never seen this poor of quality control. Next the rest of the components are bottom tier. The cheapest huffy at Walmart has better components. These tires, controls, grips, seat, even the reflectors that come with it are absolutely trash! Came packaged in the worst way possible with the manual ripped up. Probably returned by another customer and packed back up and sent to me. Not that the manual is of any help as it is just generic assembly for multiple bikes and none of it applies to this version well. Not to mention half the components are already assembled and you cannot follow the instructions in order. They are also assembled poorly. After reading other reviews it seems I will probably have to pay for the return shipping. I was looking forward to this bike as a step up from Schwinn in this price range but even the new generation Chinese Schwinns are 10 times as good as this piece of junk. Update* cooled off and decided to tweak it enough to make it work. Have it assembled and sort of ridable but it's pretty junky. There's really not a straight line on this bike. Turned out the biggest hurdle was that brace between the front shocks. It was welded on so crooked nothing else would align. Also had to disassemble a lot of what came assembled because it was put together wrong from the factory.

It's a decent bike
I bought this used on Amazon. It seems to be a good value for a low end bike, but at under $400, I would usually choose something without rear suspension. The fork was twisted to the side, which was probably why it was returned the first time. It could only be assembled after twisting it straight with clamps and vice grips. I didn't need to true the wheels or adjust breaks or derailluers so I found the assembly and setup to be reasonably easy. Mongoose bikes at most price points seem at least as good as other brands to me although cycling enthusiasts will be critical and resale value probably isn't as good as a more more respected brand or Co-op bike you might buy for a couple hundred more.

Absolutely gorgeous bike...It was so simple to put together, I didnt need to read the instruction booklet. I love riding this bike. The gears are simple to use and the brakes work extremely well...Thank you so much

Nice bike but cheep components
Like: Bike is perfect size for my son. Tires are nice and beefy. Shifting is easy but takes a little more effort that paddle shifters. Seat came with a tear and they sent a replacement immediately. Dislike: The front shocks are terrible. I’m 240lbs and I have to put a lot of weight on front fork to even get shock to move and when it does it is not a smooth movement. A smaller kid might as well have a solid fork. The bike is advertised as having disk brakes. They are not disk brakes.

Not even rideable
This bike was a Christmas gift for my 11-year-old son. The bike arrived with forks that were seemingly welded on crooked. It was impossible to put the front wheel on the bike. We took it to a local bike shop, and they confirmed that the bike could not be assembled. We returned the bike, which costs us $160 to box and ship. The bike was received by Amazon on January 3rd, and we still have not received our refund. We needed this refund so that we could buy my son a bike that actually works. Here we are a month later and my son essentially does not have a Christmas gift. We have contacted Amazon and Mongoose several times, neither of which is an easy task, and we have received no assistance. My advice to you, if you are looking for a bike, shop local!! Our local bike shop has been so helpful, and they have affordable options. At the very least, it is a live person who is eager to assist you. I wish that we had started there! It is sad to see what has happened to Mongoose, it used to be such an elite brand. Shop around! There are great deals, and you won't have the headaches that this product has caused my family.

Great bike but needs a few tweaks
I've been riding this bike for a few months and it's really what I've been looking for. Not too expensive (got one that was new with a damaged box on Amazon for $320) and it feels good. With that in mind, the stock cranks are made of plastic. I replaced them quickly with standard aluminum ones after reading reviews that showed them shearing from normal riding. Everything else has been pretty solid, although I do plan on upgrading the rear derailleur, as the chain comes off the flywheel of pretty easily when you hit rough patches during off-roading. EDIT: Rear derailleur replacement (cheap Shamino but definitely an upgrade) did the trick and she's riding smoothly now! Wish they would have just installed a little better components in the first place, but I'm happy with my purchase overall.
