Most colors are amazing, great value
I have been DIY my own hair off and on for maybe 9 years now. I latched onto this brand early on and it's my favorite by far. I have used all the pinks, oranges, and yellow, and alpine green. (not cherry on top, vermillion red or red wine, no other greens, no blue, no black)- you can mix a TBLS or less of the dye with 1/4 or more of cheap conditioner and it colors just as deeply as if you didn't, I probably don't use more than a few TBLS in total each time, super budget friendly, and with this I never felt it damaged my hair even though I bleach it every two weeks while I use it.- super easy to do ombre with, I just bleached it for the third time this go round and did a very different color combination, with yellows, oranges and dark pinks.- if you wash with cool water it fades amazingly slowly- with a cool water rinse, I think it's maybe left any color spots on my bedding, though it will stain the tub if you rinse too vigorously and splatter- I'm on my third go round this time, started with fire at the roots, then flame, then yellow, bleached roots and did rose red, then fire, then flame, bleached roots then did yellow at the roots, flame, then poppy red at the ends, just to reiterate the fact you can play with various colors fairly easily and often.- im not sure why the site exists, "vk . com / punkycolour" but it has so many photos of young cute ladies with photos of the dyes in action, it's great inspiration.- with regular clarifying shampoo and hot water you can fade it fairly well if you want an easier clean slate to dye from.- neutral, if I dye my tips yellow and orange higher up, even if I use clarifying shampoo and some light bleaching on them, I still can get orange muddying the tips over a few washes that makes it hard to get yellow again unless I bleach the ends longer than I'd like.- down side, the cotton candy did NOTHING for me, nor did the pastel shade adjustor. The green looked great briefly, but then wouldn't get out of my hair no matter what, still had green tint until my hair grew all the way out (like it would look gone, then a hot shower would have a bit more green leak out of the depths of my head!) Green is hard to get rid of but I didn't expect a battle!Anyway, high kudos to this dye brand, and now I know there are a couple reds I need to order!

Great purple color!
I've used this dye twice so far to dip dye the ends of my hair purple. It is very easy to use - if you have light or bleached hair just slather it on, let it sit, and wash it out. It is messy and will stain so you will want to use some rubber gloves when working with it. It smells like grape candy and isn't damaging to your hair. It actually made my hair feel a lot softerI have light blond hair so I did not have to bleach at all and the color came out well. The first time I dyed it, I diluted the dye with a lot of conditioner (probably almost 10 parts conditioner to 1 part dye) since I wanted a very light purple color. As you can see in the first picture, it came out very light and almost looked pink which I was ok with but wasn't the lilac I was going for. I think for a lilac, you should go with a diluted version of the violet dye. This dye faded quickly (barely noticeable after 2-3 days) and then was completely gone after 2 weeks back to my original blond color. The jar does say it will last about 5-40 washes so it seems like that's pretty accurate, especially considering I diluted it a whole lot.I dyed it a second time and this time almost didn't dilute at all and it came out BRIGHT and very purple (see second picture). It has been three days since I dyed it and it has started to fade, but not nearly as fast as the first time. My only disappointment is that it fades very unevenly and almost looks splotchy. The second time I washed my hair since dying it, my shampoo was still turning purple with some of the dye washing out but thankfully it hasn't stained any of my clothes or pillowcases! Will try using no conditioner next time and maybe finding a different technique to make sure all my hair gets the same amount of dye.

Concerned about it not being Jerome Russell, but nonetheless it is amazing.
First time using since the bottle/label changed. I mixed plum and purple accidentally.BY THE WAY: Purple is a plum color, plum is a dark purple. This naming seems backwards to me.I have prebleached hair and extensive (15+ years) experience in abnormal colors. I can get even the worst brand (cough::splat) to show up... but brightness/shine/hair feel/value/color are what I look for:Brightness/staying power: seems pretty bright, very dense color. Covered up my brown roots well for many washes. Even showed up in boyfriends medium brown hair for 2-3 washes (used him as a guinea pig, and he doesn’t do anything to stop fading). It’s only been a little over a week, but it’s still holding strong. [Too soon to rate 5 full stars].Scatter Brain Side note: Texture of the cream was odd, different than manic panic. Slimy/oily? I don’t really know, maybe it’s the mineral oil in it.Shine: my hair wasn’t matte or dull after applying, it’s got good shine. 5 stars.Hair Feel: usually even the most “conditioning” and “gentle” semi-permanents (looking at you Artic Fox!) leave my hair feeling dry and in need of love. But to my surprise this one rinsed out feeling smooth. Almost didn’t condition it! Boyfriend also said his hair felt really good. 5 stars!Color: as noted, the named colors seem wrong to me. The PLUM is dark purple and PURPLE is a reddish pinkish purple. I applied both in separate sections, trying to get a highlight/lowlight thing going on... but after my rinse it all blended together. It’s not a bad color, but darker and more monotone than I wanted. 4 starsValue: popular semipermanent hair dyes such as manic panic and raw come in 4oz bottles for $10-$15. This brand is $5-$7 (from my brief amazon search) for 3.5oz. That’s a much better deal, especially if you have long/thick hair that needs multiple bottles per single application. 5 stars!Stranger Things: what the heck is with this label change? It looks nice, but no where does it say Jerome Russell. I worry it’s a knock off. Maybe they sold off the name rights or just turned it into its own brand. It’s distribted by “American International Industries”. The website on the bottle is not secure and my antivirus won’t let me go to it without a fight. Googling it gives a weird blog. If anyone knows what the deal is with this, let me know!!! I’m concerned about using some unknown brand/ possible knock off. This alone takes a star away from my (nearly) 5 star rating. Two pics of my hair: one with flash, other without.

Best Dye Out There!
(This review is for Purple.)I love this! We have tried other brands, but this one lasts the longest. I especially love the smell! Smells like fake grape, which I find amazing. I think the problem a lot of people have is that they goop on too much. I just use enough to cover my strands, not goop the hair. My tub was totally fine after this, and I have a white tub with a white curtain. I think the lack of stains is due to not using too much product, and the fact my tub was clean, no scum. It does stain, so make sure you put on vaseline or something of the sort around your hairline and your ears. (also protect the area that you are dying.). I have very dark hair, so I left it on for 8 hours with a shower cap on. No problem! My hair felt amazing after. (I did not bleach my hair before because I refuse to ruin my hair or do anything permeant). As for staining pillows and clothes, I've never had that issue. I wince my hair until the water is CLEAR, but slightly tinted. If your hair is properly rinsed, it will not stain any clothing, not even your towel. Please note that this is a warmer purple, more like mauve, depending on your hair type. In the sunlight, it is definitely like a warm purple/mauve on me. It is also mauve on my daughter (5), who has dirty blonde/light brown hair. Fades out well and easy, doesn't look cheap like other brands.

Will stain everything you own
So, I got this to see if I could get some tint to my hair(a 2 or 3) without bleaching. It did, in fact, put a nice tint in my hair, but at what cost! The "purple" is actually MAGENTA. I know this, because my tub and sink and countertop and hands and back and legs are MAGENTA.I've dyed my hair before, so I know what to expect, and this applied fine, but it got EVERYWHERE. And I'm not sure why? Like, every other color I've used didn't get everywhere. It NEVER rinses clear. I'm two washes(about 10 days) in and it is still running. I'd suggest you not get caught in the rain in anything you care about. It also will make anything it touches turn magenta, so be prepared to scrub your back and legs and hands after washing your hair. And be sure to use a towel that you don't care about because it will have magenta all over it.You need to wash your shower/tub EVERY time you wash your hair. Like I said, it runs when your hair gets wet, and somehow that pigment requires BLEACH to get it off the tub. If you let it set more than 30 minutes, it will require scrubbing and barkeeper's friend as well. I'm not sure how it stains everything so well when it doesn't really stay in my hair, but whatever.I have thick, mid-back hair, and two tubs was really pushing it. I had a third tub on standby, and I could have broken it out to get a little more coverage(I can see a spot I missed if I look hard enough) so you will need more than one unless you are diluting it with conditioner. The smell is STRONG. You will smell like grape KoolAid until your first wash.Overall, I don't think I'll be using this again. The color payoff isn't enough for the hassle of application, and after two washes it's barely noticeable at all. At least I'm hopefully close to not having to scrub my tub after every shower.

Works FINE on gray hair!!
It also lasts a really long time!! My pre-Elder hair is really dark, thus every single purple strand started out silver/white. I do tend to leave it in for several hours, though.Re durability: It was time to re-do my hair at last, and I was out of Punky. But I did have this old jar of The Major Competitor. Now, I’m almost positive this result of its age, but I still found it funny as hell: After 3-4 hours, I washed it out. It had done NOTHING. (Really pretty old, though.)But left underneath was the Punky. Waving a defiant little semi faded flag. 😆I routinely get random compliments on the street: “Hey I love your hair!” (I don’t think it’s aww lookit the boomer being cute; as you might guess I don’t exactly give the usual stereotypical grandma vibes.) And when I realized that I had spoken to my pastor on Sunday morning (try not to ever do this, by the way!) I sent her email headed”the lady with the purple hair.”Well gosh, for some reason she totally remembered who I was!Go purple, my Elders. Part of our job is to rock it hard and reassure the rugrats that life is surprisingly fun. Although please don’t tell my dad he might have been right about the loud music. He’d never let me afterlive it down.

Disappointed
The color I got looked nothing like the color advertised, even though my hair was properly bleached. I also tried my best to keep everything clean while rinsing it out, but in the two minutes it took to rinse, my shower looked like a murder scene. I’ve dyed my hair many times before and have never had a product bleed this much. Really disappointed.

Insanely bright and long lasting
Insanely colourfully and last ridiculously long. I’ve only applied it once to my bleached chunk in the front of my hair. It’s been two weeks and still very bright and needs. O touch ups. Only spot that returned to regular color is my roots which grow quickly. Best fashion color product I’ve used in the last 18 years
