Thomas Telford

One of those books where you become well informed about the subject. I'm not an avid reader of book but this one kept be interested the whole way through.

Bought this book as a present since we live near to quite a few of the things that Telford had built or had actually visited some of the buildings.The print in it is a good size so even with not very good eyesight husband has managed to read it and did not want to put it down. Very well written and informative some surprises about things, not technical jargon, just very interesting reading.

A very interesting book, a worthwhile addition to my canal bookshelf.

Engineering hero

Interesting read in Rolt's usual style - a little too casually simplistic and non-academic. Telford was a fascinating man and , actually. a genius ! We have much to thank him for.

As one would expect of a book by this author this is well researched , well written and very informative .

A marvellous book for anyone interested in the work of this great Engineer. Well pleased with the read found it most enjoyable.
