Great vacuuming power and very fast; would recommend getting the self-emptying dock
S8 12/1/2024 Q5+ 7/12/23 S4 Max 8/18/21 This is a consolidated review of the Roborock S4 Max purchased August 18, 2021 (3-1/2 years ago), the Q5+ with Self-empty dock purchased July 12, 2023 (1-1/2 years ago) and the S8 purchased December 1, 2024 (3 months ago). I purchased the S4 during Covid, partially because I was noticing the dust around the house more since I was home all the time, and partially because I wanted to see if a robo-vacuum was a waste of money or not. I became a convert in the first week, as the S4 worked its way around the house, hoovering up light dust which immediately reduced dust motes floating in the air. It worked perfectly on hardwood and tile floors, acceptably on the stiff carpet pile in the bedrooms, but struggled with the plush carpet in the living room and heavy throw rugs. I put it on a schedule and other than spending 5 minutes every other day to dump the dust bin, it was perfect. I then started taking it downstairs, where it would spend an hour scooting around picking up the dust. Every couple of weeks I'd wipe it down and clean the sensors, and whenever it told me I'd replace the filter and brushes. I pulled out the regular vaccum cleaner once a month rather weekly. After a couple of months, what was noticeable was that my wife's and my allergies had decreased significantly. Also, instead of seeing a spider once or twice a week, it became a once every 3 months situation. Big win. While there were clear benefits, I figured that it probably wasn't going to be cost-effective - I expected the S4 Max to die pretty quickly since it was in use 3-5 days a week. A year went by and I knew that as soon as the S4 Max died I'd get a replacement. Another year went by with no signs of it giving up and I convinced myself that getting a new one for downstairs would be worthwhile - save my time carrying one upstairs and downstairs. Yes, laziness was a factor. I chose the Q5+ with self-emptying dock so I wouldn't need to deal with the dust bin. It now operates autonomously downstairs, vacuuming the entire downstairs 3 times a week, and I only need to replace the dust bag in the dock every other month. Three years after buying the S4 Max it seemed like the suction power was decreasing, and I was expecting it to fail at any time, so I researched the latest models and bought the S8 in December 2024. While I like the convenience of the self-emptying dock, in our upstairs (main living space) I like to get an idea of what is being vacuumed up. I was going to recycle the S4 Max, but then decided to keep it running along with the S8 for comparative purposes. I will say that, hands down, the S4 Max has been outstanding from a reliability and ease of use perspective. While they all essentially have the same form factor, the S4 Max manages to slip under furniture that defeats the Q5+ and the S8. The dustbin on the S4 Max also excels (I never thought I'd write a sentence like that). You pop it open, dump the dust and lint out, and you're done. The S8 dustbin has cross bars and braces that trap hair and lint, side ledges that hold onto dust, and a really efficient dust filter that needs to be brushed after each use since the dust cakes onto it. I'd guess that the S8 was specifically designed for use with a self-cleaning dock, but they made the decision to make a manual version as well. Implementation wasn't perfect. That said, the S8 has fantastic vacuuming power. For fun, I've had it vacuum the same room after the S4 Max, and it picks up a lot more that was missed. It is also significantly faster, covering the same rooms about 25% faster than the S4 Max. However, it is more "cautious" than the S4 Max and will not go under some furniture which the S4 Max handles well. I appreciate the Q5+ with self emptying dock. It just operates autonomously, keeping my downstairs dust (and spider) free. The only hiccup is that the side brush has started coming off every couple of weeks. Not quite sure what is going on, since I haven't had that issue with the S4 Max or the S8, but it is an additional maintenance step. The only thing that would make the Q5+ better would be a notification that the dust bag in the dock needs to be changed. Overall, the Roborock vacuums have exceeded my expectations for robo-vacuums. They have definitely improved quality of life by reducing dust in the house, and reduced the amount of time that needs to be spent dusting and vacuuming.

A great choice overall for mopping and cleaning
Works great, easy to use, better mopping than the S7 I had before. The dirt bin is a little fussy to empty and clean and it mis-labels obstacles, but the avoidance is spot on- it has not run over any vomit or feces yet and has not sucked up and toys like the older model did. Def worth the money if you can get it on sale. At full price there may be better options with more features. I tried a new Roomba but sent it back and got this instead, Roborock absolutely has more suction power and picks up more dirt. Corners and edges will still need to be swept as this does not clean them fully.

Roborock S8
I had a Roborock S6 for 4-1/2 years and was absolutely happy with it. When it came time to get another vaccum I felt the Roborock was a good product and decided to go with another. I chose the S8. Setup was easy and the first several times it worked great. It then started crossing no go lines, usually the shower. I extended the "no go" line for the shower and that seemed to take care of it for a while. Nope! The next time it crossed that line the shower had just been sprayed. I immediately took the bottom off and the dust bin out and left it to dry for 5 days while we were gone. When i came home and restarted the machine it kept saying "wheels suspended, move robot". Even factory reset would not help. The machine is only 45 days from purchase and I am very upset at the loss of money and machine.

A Game-Changer for Clean Homes!
I've been using the Roborock S8 for a few weeks now, and I am thoroughly impressed! This robot vacuum is a game-changer for anyone looking to maintain a clean home without the hassle of manual vacuuming. The S8's powerful suction effortlessly picks up dirt, dust, and pet hair, leaving my floors spotless. I especially love the smart mapping feature that allows it to navigate my home with precision, avoiding obstacles and cleaning every nook and cranny. The app is user-friendly, making it easy to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones, and monitor the vacuum's progress. The mopping function is a fantastic bonus, and it does an excellent job of giving my floors that extra shine. Battery life is also impressive, allowing the S8 to clean large areas without needing a recharge. Overall, the Roborock S8 has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a reliable, efficient, and quiet cleaning companion that has significantly lightened my household chores. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier robot vacuum!

Does the job
This is my second Roborock—this one, the s8, is for my upstairs—and I really like it. It performs just as well as my first (an S7 model), with strong cleaning power and smart mapping. My only complaint is how hard it is to find original replacement parts. The plastic mop pad holder on my first Roborock broke, and a third-party replacement I bought also cracked after a short time. Now I’m using the S8 mop pad interchangeably between units, which works for now—but it’s not ideal. I’d love to see easier access to durable, original parts from Roborock.

Huge upgrade from the S7 from my point of view
We have had an S7 for about a year now and absolutely love it. We decided to add another one to dedicate it to another area of the house. The S8 is a huge improvement over the S7. They look pretty much the same but operationally, the S8 is vastly superior. The feature that we noticed it the most is the ability to clean our medium length carpet. The S7 did work well on our short carpet but not the longer one. The S7 was never able to get more than a few feet on the longer carpet before it got stuck or tangled. In contrast, the S8 NEVER has a problem with any of the carpet. So now we have the S8 do the entire house, both upstairs and downstairs. In order to do the upstairs, all you have to do is carry it up the stairs and start the cleaning. You need to watch it the first time to keep it away from trouble areas using the map. But after training, it recognizes that it is on the second floor and cleans accordingly. I would recommend watching it during the initial training to make sure that it does not tumble down the stairs. It has features to prevent this but rather than risk breaking an expensive machine, I watched it and made an invisible wall to ensure that the stairs are off limits. All in all, I love this new S8 Roborock and would highly recommend it.

Lots of $ for something that does not work
This is not our first rodeo with robot vacuum cleaners, but this is the worst experience we have ever had. After cleaning an area of the house it returns to be recharged. After charging it forgets what has been completed (the cleaning maps vanish) and it starts over. Have been corresponding with the company for over a month to no avail. Try factory reset, delete this and add that, blink your eyes three times and turn around twice … It has not worked. We just want a product that works. DO NOT BUY from this company. Customer support is terrible and the product does not work!! Update: We were contacted by the Customer Service Department. They offered a label for us to ship the old unit back and it was replaced with a new unit under warranty. Thanks. Roborock ROCKS!

Roborock... Not what it used to be
I am extremely disappointed in the newer Roborock vacuums. I have an S5 and I LOVE it. It is a work horse. But I wanted to get another vacuum and have bought TWO different Roborock model vacuums in the last 2 months and neither have impressed me. For this S8 I am extremely disappointed that the NO MOP zone acts like a no-go zone. Why did this matter to me? The first time I vacuumed (vacuum only), the mop pad seemed to drag on the area rugs even when it is "lifted", again this is just in vacuum mode only. The mop pad picked up some hair and debris from the area rugs just in vacuum mode, so the pad isn't lifted very high. I have area rugs in the kitchen, mats by 2 doors and a large 8' round rug under the table. So, I set the no mop zone in the hopes that it would stop the water from coming out while vacuuming the area rugs, but the vacuum just doesn't go there at all! It treats the no mop zone like a no-go zone. It did vacuum and mop (not great) in all the areas that did not have a no mop zone. Yes, it says the vacuum automatically lifts the mop pad when it detects carpet, but I didn't try that since I thought a no mop zone should work. This isn't a horrible issue as I currently have to set up my S5 to mop separately. My S5 vacuums everywhere on set schedules, even in the No Mop zones! On days I want it to mop, I put the microfiber mop pad on the vacuum and tell it to mop the kitchen and it mops everywhere except the No Mop zones. Very logical! If I am going to pay this much money it should do what it says it is going to do, mop in the mop areas and vacuum in vacuum areas (lifting the pad and stopping the water). So, this vacuum is not worth the cost for me. NEGATIVES: As mentioned above, the no mop zone is useless. I am not sure the duo roller rubber brushes work great. I only used this a couple of times, but I think my S5 does a much better job on all tile, hardwood, and area rugs. To note: I have a small female Husky and this S8 didn't seem to get all of the dog hair out of area rugs, but my S5 does! And this S8 left behind a few pieces of dirt on the tile (little dried rice size pieces of dirt off of shoes, not stuck to the floor). I also felt that the navigation is a little clunky as it would not go by a baby gate floor post that was about 1.5 feet away from the RIGHT SIDE of the vacuum. The post was not even in front of the vacuum and the gate was wide open in front of it. It stopped, thought about it and then turned around to go around the table in another direction. Also, the obstacle avoidance is weird. It mapped table legs and different furniture items as obstacles. There weren't any obstacles like shoes, toys, wires, etc. It even marked my love seat leg as a "pet" issue. I attached a picture of the map. None of these are really big issues as there are workarounds, etc., If the tech stuff isn't working well why pay for it. At this price point I wanted this S8 to work better than my old, cheaper S5 and it doesn't. The POSITIVES: set up is easy and the map and app are nice and easy to use. It's pretty quiet. I can't say much for the other features because I just want a vacuum that will vacuum and occasionally mop. If you want a tech gadget for fun, this might be for you, it has lots of "features", but I am not sure how well they work LOL! If you want something that can vacuum and mop where you want it to with minimal assistance from you, this might not be for you. PS I read other's reviews talking about the no mop zone issue and honestly, I just thought they didn't know how to use the app LOL! So, be aware of this issue if you are considering this for that feature. I am now looking at other robot vacuum brands. :(

Only one flaw
Everything is great, except the dust bin capacity... It is too small, requiring to be emptied after each usage.

A melhor marca!
