I've been using a stick edger attachment for my string stimmwr for over 20 years, and it definitely gets the job done, but it takes so.e real effort especially if you have wet clay soil. I didn't mind this when I was in my late 20s, but now I'm 51 and it's gotten rather unpleasant for me to use. This Toro edger though is practically effortless! And it does an absolutely fantastic job in about 10% of the time it took me to use my stick edger. Beware, it does require quite a but of assembly once you get jt out of the box. It's not at all difficult, don't worry about that. But, it'll take a a good 45 minutes to an hour since it's broken down into several components in order to package it in a reasonably sized box. But, the instructions are well written and it only takes a handful of basic tools. My only regret is that I didn't buy it years ago! Worth every penny. Pretty sure it's got a Chinese bo-name engine, but it does start very easily and run smoothly. I expect that as long as you give it proper maintenance, you won't have any problems with it.

Awesome machine but horrendous assembly instructions. It’s a PITA to put together but worth it when done.

Solid edger, poor instruction manual, just faded diagrams for instructions which made assembly difficult. Cuts clean lines in bumpy ground, good features on the edger.

Nice looking , built and running gas powered edger unit . Some assembly required for safe shipping. Some of the reviews complain about the difficulty of assembly which I found hilarious. A average adult with a very basic tool set and very basic tool skills can assemble this unit easily if they can follow directions. There are also several online videos on how to assemble this unit. Don’t let a basic assembly discourage you. Most makes and model’s will have this to ship safer with less chances of damage occurring when ordered through a online entity.

Does a great job of edging driveway and sidewalks. Starts right up and runs very quietly. Wish I would have bought things years ago. Only (minor) complaint is, I’m a handy guy and I felt instructions could have been better. But still, highly recommended.

Your gonna need 2 people to assemble this thing, the first step is putting the handle on the engine and the name plate, so your hold three things while trying to get them lined up you have to get the bolt through and then a 5 year old with tiny hands to help thread a bolt through the tool storage part connecting the lever. It comes zero percent assembled. I haven't used it yet to rate it fully but got so flustered with the putting it together I took a break to vent it here.
