Dogs can now walk on the stairs!!!
We remodeled our staircase from carpet to hardwood. We have cats and dogs and the dogs couldn’t navigate the wood steps. We really didn’t use the loft much until I converted it to a craft room. The dogs like to hang out with me, but wouldn’t go on the stairs. I researched numerous solutions and these carpet treads looked like the best option.Good: They are a perfect color match to our dark wood and were easy to install. The dogs can easily go up and down the steps, which was my goal. The treads are “peel and stick”, which made installation very easy. My pictures are 3 days after installation. Not so good: As others have said, the adhesive is not strong, so some areas aren’t completely flat. I wanted something that wouldn’t ruin my floor surface, so I can live with the “lumps”. The treads come folded in half, so there’s a slight crease which might take a few days to flatten. They don’t include a roller, so you have to improvise.Overall, I’m very happy and got the result I wanted for a good price.

Worth the money
So far so good. I wouldn’t describe these as “carpet” so much as they are more like a thick felt, and they are not adhesive in the sense of actually sticking securely to a surface. The bottom is more like a silicone gel pad. But not adhering to the surface of the stairs is good in the case since we are renting. The short flight of stairs in our split level rental home are hardwood. Our dogs were having are hard time getting traction up and down the stairs and slipping often. We needed something. So for the price and functionality, these are working out quite well! The strips stay flat in place and really don’t move unless you want them to. I just cleaned the stairs, removed the plastic backing from the tread, and placed them on each step. Done. My only criticism at this point is I wish they had been packaged and shipped flat rather than folded in half.

Work great on painted stairs; easy to install and stay put
We bought a new to us house...built in the 1860s. The stairs are painted and rustic and funky. The first weekend two of us slipped on the stairs (one going up and one going down), so I started looking into carpet stair treads. After looking at way too many on Amazon, I chose these based on the solid reviews, and I am glad I did. They fit our old wooden, painted stairs perfectly in both width and length and are indeed very easy to install and stay put without any slippage. Before installing I swept and cleaned the stairs. I then worked my way from top to bottom, placing one at the very top of the stairs and on each step, and had enough to put one on the landing about 2/3 of the way from the top. As others have stated, these are not super thick, but they are definitely thick enough to provide some protection from the cold now that fall is here, and more importantly, they provide enough friction that no one has fallen or slipped since I installed these. Our older dog definitely seems more secure going up and down the stairs. I haven't tried repositioning them, so I can't speak to that, but these definitely stay put and no corners roll up or anything annoying like that. All in all, a solid buy.

Didn't stick well
I've had to use gorilla glue to make sure several of them stick correctly. I've had them fall off the steps completely when stepping on them which made them dangerous. With added glue, they work. A bit awkward to clean but that's understandable.

Do not hold up
I installed these on my basement steps. They do not stick well, after less than a week showed wear already. Also difficult to clean.

Impressed
We purchased these to install on our basement stairs (currently a 1960's hard laminate finish) so that our dog would have better traction. They turned out better than expected for the price, and are currently serving the purpose we bought them for admirably! They are wider than expected (fit the width of the stair), and just a bit narrower than the tread depth. They installed easily (think of a strong post-it note type adhesion. I would think they would work best on a hard finished surface... Not sure how they would stick to unfinished or only painted wood...) and can easily be picked up for readjusting. My husband and dog go up and down the stairs daily and they have NOT moved or shifted... They are still in the same spots they were installed. There is NO cushion in them, they are a thin (maybe 1/4" thick) durable felt material. They are holding up well and can easily be swept for cleaning. There were enough in the set that we had 2-3 left for spares once we finished installing. Very pleased with the purchase!!!

Very good solution to slippery wooden stairs!
I am now installing my second set of these runners. The first set lasted at least 2 years. We recently did some construction, and the whole house got very dusty, so I want to replace these with new liners even though they will probably come out just fine in the wash. These have stayed down very well. In my weekly cleaning, I used a stiff bristled brush to clean by sweeping aggressively on top of these mats to get the dust off to the sides. Wow...they never look worn despite so much brushing! The very edges on a couple are starting to loosen up, but it is not affecting their function in the least. Our stairs have a lot of daily traffic with two teenagers running up and down all the time, so the wear and tear test has been intense and these have passed Glad to see the grey color and am trying grey for my second installation. My stairs are curved, so it is some work to ensure these are all installed evenly, but it is totally worth it for how they came out! Visually defining each step is also so helpful in reducing fall risk. Great, great product! Gummy back will not damage stairs. I used some sort of clear tape product on our basement wooden stairs and I am not happy with it. It is peeling up, bubbling and I imagine it has damaged the finish. I am going to try washing and then installing the black liners on the basement stairs once I install the grey ones upstairs.Highly recommend.

Excellent option to prevent falls going down or up stairs.
I was very surprised and happy with the ease of installing and how well they remained in place. They are very flexible and can be cut with a regular pair of scissor. Totally satisfied with the looks, ease of maintenance and the slipping prevention.

Reasonably priced, great product
Installed very quickly. Nice and soft on the bare feet. Yes , they are like a thick piece of felt, but I wanted softness for the little feet that go up and down the stairs. Not rough at all. I bought these to go on the wooden stairs going into my grandkids playroom. So far so good. They are staying in place ....so far. Very pleased and the price was very reasonable. Delivery was reasonably quick...2 weeks to Ontario Canada.
