Can this strip-calk be used for sealing gaps in sheet metal duct work in home's heating and conditioning system?

It could be used, but the color is black. They make duct sealant that is applied with a caulk gun that is meant to seal sheet metal duct work and the color is grey.

How many strips in the package?

i am pretty sure there are 60...the package is about 12 inches wide and on the side it says the material is 20 yards (60 feet)

Has anyone used this to seal a 3rd brake light in the roof of a late model pickup truck like a 2015 Ram?

This would certainly do the job, BUT it stays sticky forever. It could make removing the light to replace a bulb down the road difficult. On my 2014 Ram, I used MD Weatherstripping 01033 from the local hardware store. It's 5/16" H x 19/32" W. I had to cut wedges from the inside corners to shape it around the light. I used Permatex UltraBlack RTV (the UltraBlack is more flexible when cured than the standard black RTV) at the end joint (centered on the bottom) that I let cure for 24 hours before installing, so it took longer, but so far so good.
