Good product, works well. Instructions iffy.
Installing this item was straightforward, except the instructions said to remove a red cap but there was none. There is an orange button which I left in place and others seem to have done the same. Works fine. Getting the old cylinder out was a PITA. There is a retaining clip on the bottom which, to be fair, the instructions did say to remove. I did not do this and wound up smacking the old one out of the base several times with the hammer side of my 8lb splitting maul. That worked but now I think it might have gone easier if I had removed the clip - perhaps it would have relieved the internal pressure and made the cylinder slightly narrower. To get the other end out of the chair mechanism I went to Harbor Freight and spent $12 on a big pipe wrench. 5 minutes after getting home it was out and the chair was usable again. Overall very happy. Would purchase again.

Fits most standard office chairs!
Great replacement part, might have to get your hands dirty. Honestly, if you're heavy like me (250+ lbs) you are most likely gonna need tools to get you're old cylinder out. You'll need a Home Depot bucket, a can of silicone lube/wd40 a hammer and a pipe wrench. Flip your chair over and spry lube/wd40 in all of the seals, let it sit for 5 minutes. After the stem has sat, grab your pipe wrench and tighten it down on the stem right at the base of the chair (Right underneath where the seat cushion is) and twist HARD. You might need to do this multiple times and might also see the pipe wrench dig into the metal of the stem, thats perfectly ok, keep trying. After the stem and wheels are separated from the rest of the chair, you need to separate the stem and the wheel base. Re-lube what you can and set the assembly in the bucket with the wheel base facing upside-down. Using the hammer smack the wheel base off of the stem and let it fall into the bucket. After all of this, its time to install the new cylinder. Slot the new stem into the base with the wheels, after this set the center stem in the mount underneath the chair. let it all slot together. At this point you actually need to sit down on the chair to let the new assembly seat and lock in place. Sit in the chair and bounce up and down for a bit until you hear the chair locking into position. It can take a few tires for the chair to fully lock it, do if it feels loose at first, get trying!

Holding up well.
I didn’t like that the parts were free floating in the box it came in and there was only one glove instead of two. It made me think that it was a previous return. Other than that, the quality seems to be well made and so far, it has been doing the job. I was having problems with my chair staying up and I didn’t want to buy a new office chair, so this was a great replacement option. The QR code that was supposed to show a video of instructions didn’t work, but I found other instructions online for removing the old place and putting the new one in.

Fit fine and seems to work
So far so good. I just ordered a new chair, and wanted something that would help the chair regardless of who sat in it, since this is for a recording studio I am setting up in an unused bedroom of my house. I wish the instructions had explained the cylinder bracket that came with it - but the video on the amazon page here at least showed it was for helping to remove the old cylinder from the bottom of the old chair... Fortunately for me it was a new chair and this and different wheels all arrived together for me to assemble it for the first time. It works, fit fine, and goes up and down without issue. Unable to really test the higher weight at this time but I have no doubt it will work for anyone who may come through here. Only question is the longevity. Time will tell.

This IS NOT A SWIVEL CHAIR iston!. DO NOT BUY if your chair swivels!
I bought this piston to raise my chair 2"-3". That part worked fine. But the piston started that clicking/popping sound at about 3 weeks old. Usually this takes 3-7 years of moderate usage to degrade that far. But it's an easy fix which I've done a few times before. It turns out they don't install the swivel mechanism. It was totally missing the ball bearings and the washers they roll upon. The piston and chair will still swivel left and right, but only until the seller's return policy expires. I'm still going to pursue this - I'm not going to "throw it in the trash" like so many other rollover reviewers claim. All pistons from every manufacturer/distributor come come with the exact same swivel mechanism, where Subhtoh seems to have cut corners to save $1.50/piston at the expense of our $18-$25 purchases that we expect to last at least 3 years, not a mere 3 months.

Works as described :)
This slid right in as a replacement to my chair I got from staples. I dealt with a blown hydraulic cylinder for the last year and a half. Finally got tired of it but am not at the point where i'm ready for a new chair. This cylinder fit perfect, took less than 10 minutes to remove the old one and replace with this, and It's been working great for the last few months of use.

Missing Removal Clamps + Screws
A couple people have already pointed this out but it only comes with one clamp for removal rather than the two clamps and additional screws necessary to remove the base from the chair. I had to run out for a pipe wrench and WD-40 and it took me about three hours to pry it off. That said the cylinder itself works fine.

After 1 year - the pump caved. Like all others. So don't waste your money on this '1000' lbs one

Feel very sturdy and strong. The hardest part is removing the old one from the chair. Installing the new cylinder is super easy.
