It works great, but…
UPDATE II: After months of waiting for Chamberlain to fix the video delete function, they finally did it! I’m now VERY happy with ALL of my Chamberlain/MyQ devices and rate them 5 stars. I only hope the app developers learned a valuable lesson…IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT! UPDATE: my original post stands, and now for the reason I changed the rating to 2 stars: The software engineers and/or App developers put out a change to the already-working-just-fine MyQ App which removes the ability to BULK DELETE videos. You can only delete videos one-by-one, which, if you have 50, 100 or in my latest experience, well over a hundred recorded videos, you’ll spend 30-45 minutes or more, clearing videos from your storage account. The only other option is to delete them every single day, which is another pain in the burro. And here’s the kicker…Chamberlain has known for several months that this is a HUGE issue for users of their camera products, but has failed to fix the App in spite of too-numerous-to-count complaints on the App Store reviews. Chamberlain told me two months ago that they were aware of this problem and were working to resolve it. BULL! Two months later and it still isn’t fixed. All they had to do was issue another update, turning back the clock to the previous version. They aren’t fixing anything because, hey, they got their money for the cameras, so why fix anything? PREVIOUS REVIEW: This video keypad is fantastic in all respects but one, which I will address later in this review. Video quality is great, audio is crystal clear and easy to communicate with delivery people, etc. I’m glad I opted to upgrade from the basic keypad I’ve had for years. Setup was easy as well. Now for the shortcoming: although the battery lasts quite a long time (mine has been going for over 3 months before needing charging), it takes 10+ hours to recharge. That means no keypad or surveillance available all day (or night if you’re charging at night). And, to my knowledge and experience, the only way you’ll know the battery needs charging is a notification on your phone that the keypad is off line. To solve this issue, one must buy a second battery, keep it charged up, and swap batteries when the active one goes dead. That’s a $30 expense that I would rather have not had, but the alternative of no video surveillance and no keypad leaves no choice. And that’s why I gave this otherwise stellar device 4 stars instead of 5.

Good quality camera but poor battery life
The quality of this camera is great, even compared to our Ring doorbell camera. The only issue is the battery life isn't as long as Ring. I've already had to charge it four times in just a few months. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it gets inconvenient. The quality alone makes me want to switch our camera system to this brand, but I can't get passed the battery life. Super easy to set up and compatible with our 18 year old garage door opener. Viewing angles are pretty good and it picks up motion from a good distance.

BUYER BEWARE - The little keypad that can't
This review is for the video keypad. I had high hopes for this product and assumed there are some things it could do (but didn't research enough) and if you do too please read. The things it CAN'T do: 1. OPEN or CLOSE your garage door via the app. Considering this is a "smart" garage door opener, you might think like I did that it can open and close your garage door via the app. You would be wrong. The keypad can open and close your door if you manually type in the passcode and the keypad is programmable via the app and you can view the camera via the app but for whatever reason (I assume a money grab) they did not enable the ability to open or close the door via the app. Their incompetent "support" people will argue that it CAN'T be done without buying additional hardware but that is nonsense. The keypad can open/close the door and the app can talk to the keypad so this CAN be done they just clearly chose not to enable it. I understand the keypad has no way of knowing for sure if the door is truly open or closed but it doesn't need to, I can see that via the camera. The app simply needs to make it issue a "toggle" command just the same as if you entered the passcode. Imagine how frustrated you will be when you get to work and take a look at the video via the app to see you left the door up and have no way to shut it. This is simply inexcusable. 2. It can't work with Alexa. 3. It can't work with Google Home. 4. It can't reliably alert you that someone (or a vehicle) is in front of the camera. I have all the sensitivity levels maxed out and my daughter just drove home right in front of the camera and then walked inside right in front of the camera and it never alerted me. I have notifications set to alert me on all motion not just people. If you stand in front of the camera and look directly at it for several seconds it will finally alert you. The timestamp however is off by an hour and I see no way to change that. UPS also delivered a package, parking directly in a zone marked active for notification and it never alerted me. 5. It can't store anything for free. If you want any type of storage for video or entry events you must pay monthly (or yearly) for their cloud storage plan. 6. It can't record your video 24/7. I was prepared to pay for their cloud product that gives you 7 or 30 days of storage until I found out that it only saves a few seconds when it sees an alert (which is almost never) and not 24/7. I was hoping to use this in case anything was ever messed with around the house I could rewind the video and see what happened but that is not possible. I will not be paying for the cloud storage. Do not be fooled by the 4.4 star rating with 27,000 reviews. They deceptively listed this along with their old school "dumb" keypad which I'm sure was a great keypad and the one I wish I had bought. Amazon should not allow this type of thing. Be sure to read the reviews for the video keypad if that is what you want to buy. Things it can do. 1. Open the garage door when you enter the code on the keypad. 2. Show you a live video of the camera. I do not recommend unless you only need these 2 things.

If it loses WiFi, it won't open your garage. Video subscription is expensive.
When I found out it requires uninterrupted WiFi and Internet access to even open the door, I also had to try several times over the first week to get the WiFi settings to stick. It kept going offline. I almost returned it. I'm replacing a Liftmaster/Chamberlain dumb keypad, which doesn't require Internet. We don't lose Internet often, but we do have frequent guests, landscapers, propane delivery etc. I also gave a code to the local police & fire stations, so I need it to work. Second, the subscription prices are ok for one video keypad, but very high for two or more. I'm reconsidering that. Check it out before you buy this. That said, I still give this five stars. It's well made, also replaces a Ring Doorbell, so I won't have that subscription to pay. From my research, there really isn't a better option.

Overall, pretty cool device, but...
Easy to install, but you'll need a standard 110v plug, ideally with decent line of sight to the garage door. Color camera is decent too. The really cool thing is the app. You can get amazon in-garage delivery, set temp codes for guests, and if you're really O-C, you can double check that your garage door is really closed right from your restaurant table. And if you have Wi-Fi, you can open and close your garage door from your balcony in Puerto Vallarta. The bad news: The (removable) rechargeable battery life is really poor. It'll go dead on you without warning, and you'd best have another way into the house in that event ( such as a regular garage door opener, or a key). Maybe a couple months on a charge (with light usage, once you outgrow the novelty), then overnight to recharge. Still, no regrets.

Has a potential, but needs serious improvement
This video keypad looks nice and it's easy to install and program. However, the battery life is very short and the video feed takes a long time to load ,and the worst part is the wifi reception by the video keypad. If you don't have at least two bars on your wifi signal appearing on the video feed, don't expect the video feed to work reliably. Low wifi signal not only causes the inconsistent video functions but also depletes battery a lot faster. During one week of setting up this video keypad, I had to remove the battery and recharge for 8 hours already. When the keypad was initially connected to myQ garage door, programmed and set up inside the garage, it seemed everything worked. As soon as the keypad was mounted outside the frame of my garage door, no video, keypad worked, however. It says "oh no! something went wrong, etc." Sometimes it works, but most of time it's off-line. Even though the video is on-line, it will be off-line again after coming back from checking keypad settings on the video feed. After a few days of reset and changing my router position and antennae, inconsistent connection and video feeds problem still continued. My router is a relatively recent model and is located directly above the keypad and the distance is only a one-story high, 8 to 10 feet maybe. Changing placement positions of router and antenna didn't make any difference. Finally, I decided to buy a wifi extender and plugged into an outlet just opposite side of a wall where the video keypad is mounted. Now, the video feed has three bars of wifi signal strength and reasonably steady. Occasionally, the keypad video still goes off-line. It takes about 5 to 7 seconds for the video feed loads on the screen compared to 2 to 3 seconds of myQ garage camera. In summary, this video keypad has a potential to be a good security device for your home, but needs some improvements. I am listing pros and cons of this video keypad from my experience. Pros: 1. Looks nice 2. Easy to install and set up. 3. Video quality is good. 4. It provides security by monitoring your driveway. Cons: 1. Wifi performance is not good unless a router or extender is nearby. 2. Video feed takes long time. 3. Battery life is short. It seems recharging is needed every 2 -3 weeks. 4. Video keypad will be out of commission while the battery is being recharged. 5. Cost of the battery is $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping 6. In order to recharge, you have the remove the mounting screw and take out the battery. 7. Audio quality is rather terrible. I turn speaker off in my video feed. 8. Night vision is not good. 9. Recharging takes about 8 hours. 10. Replacement battery is available only through the myQ direct. 11. Spare battery not available to purchase at the Amazon together with the video keypad. 12. Person and motion detection is inconsistent. 13. Video storage cost $$ and needs a subscription.

Myq smart garage door video keypad
The MyQ smart garage door video keypad works as advertised with a fairly wide range of motion to pick up any movement of the vehicle and animal or person. Provides immediate notification of the motion and I'm able to log in at any time to see a live shot. With the available AC option, there is no need for a battery recharge as it is always fully charged. The provided electrical cord is more than sufficient length to run from the unit to your outlet. Price was reasonable and mounting was fairly straightforward. Would recommend this product to monitor your outside and also provide a combination entry to your garage.

Close but fell down crossing the finish line
The MyQ Video Keypad works OK but it is far less consumer-focused, customizable, and intuitive than other options. To MyQ’s disadvantage for me, my garage door and camera application at our old house was a combination of Nest Cameras I bought used off the marketplace and eKyro remote openers that are $39 a pair here on Amazon. The once I got those babies setup and working, they never stopped. The eKyro remote openers worked with Alexa and HomeKit and I believe they work with nearly all the other formats. The MyQ supposedly works with HomeKit but after many attempts, I gave up and haven’t revisited it. The Ekyros are corded and we live in Oklahoma. During storm season, we would lose power often so I had my openers and remotes connected to battery backups so that we and our neighbors could get into our storm shelter without issue. The battery is the real thorn for me with the MyQ. There has to be a way to provide continuous power the keypad using the low voltage wiring already present in a garage door electrical system. I also don’t like that you can only control one door with the keypad. Lemme get on with it. My review: 🙂 - Price — I think it’s a good value for the money 🙂 - WiFi security — industry standard 🙁 - Physical security — a single Phillips-headscrew Securing the camera and battery to the housing 🫤 - Setup — had to move my router within 10 feet to get a decent WiFi connection. 😕 - Connectivity — spotty. I get numerous (non- battery related) “Your MyQ Video Opener is offline Click here to see how to reconnect” messages weekly. ☹️ - Battery — Lacking. I purchased a 2nd battery due to the abhorrent charge time which is 8-12 hrs. I am changing batteries about every 6 days. Don’t buy the battery at original price. Chamberlain has a 50% Off sale periodically. 😉 - Programming — I found adding members and guests to be straightforward and simple. While we were away on quick getaway, one of our neighbors took care of our dogs and another took care of our pool. We gave them both separate codes and could see when they came and went. You can schedule the start and stop day and time. ☹️ - Video — I get black and white video. My connection went down several times as I’m writing this review and it “Fair.” My pool NestCam is 30 ft from the router and has clear, color video. See pic. Like I said, there are better options. I doubt I could get color video if I strapped the keypad to the router itself. 🙁 - Chamberlain — You all really need to separate your products so that consumers can read valid reviews and make educated purchase decisions. I hope this helps buyers and Chamberlain.
