Potent Serum Improved Texture, Firmness, Hydration & Lines-Sensitive Skin Had Reaction At 3 Weeks
The Lancer Younger Pure Youth Serum with MIMIXYL (a proprietary blend of plant derived retinoids) and 7% glycolic acid feels potent. It initially felt almost too strong for my mature, dry, sensitive skin, but the main issue was that it made my skin feel dry and just slightly irritated the first couple nights. I didn’t get a burn, rash or anything too painful, so I continued using the serum nightly and each night followed with a gentle YonKa sensitive skin cream that I’ve used awhile and knew wouldn’t cause any issues. After about a week, my skin was totally acclimated to the Lancer serum as it was calm and actually felt more hydrated than usual. I kept using it nightly for a total of almost three weeks, and my skin texture felt great as it had become incredibly smooth and soft. Also, my fine lines looked less noticeable. I’m showing aging by my mouth and my skin looked firmer, and my wrinkles looked softened and less pronounced. I have a small dark spot and it had faded some so I can barely see it. I feel I got noticeable benefits in my skin texture and how my skin looked and felt overall.I didn’t introduce anything new and regularly used sunscreen. But just as my skin was doing so great I used the Lancer serum one night and my skin turned red and became painful like a chemical burn. It took many days to calm down and heal, and I haven’t used it since. I suspect my sensitive skin was over exfoliated and every night use was too much, but I’ve had no luck getting more info. Anyway, I do think this is more effective than most serums and loved the results until my reaction. I recommend it, but every night use may be too often for sensitive skin. 4.5 stars.

anti-aging as well as moisturizing
Update: unfortunately downgrading from a 5 star to a 4 after longer term use. I don’t recommend it for anyone with sensitive skin. Every time I have slightly more sensitive spots (usually around the eyes), it does irritate and burn, seems too strong. Still a great one for packing a good anti aging punch for those without sensitivities.Original review:This serum from Lancer comes in a luxurious looking set up with beautiful presentation, worthy of holiday gift. The bottle is gorgeous and has some weight to it, making it feel high end too. The serum is opaque yellow whitish, and it’s on the more intense and thick side. It glides on easily and mostly absorbs quickly. You can still feel it on the skin afterwards, almost like you applied lotion and not just serum. I actually didn’t need any more moisturizer after this serum, on my combination, middle age, moderately sensitive skin. I have gotten reactions to some cosmetics that had a lot of anti aging elements but this one gave me no issues. The scent is not particularly great to me, but not awful either. There’s a slight sweet tinge, something like dates or raisins, and a little bit of medicine smell, but it doesn’t seem to be scented per se.One thing to note, this is not meant to be day and night serum, but more for overnight. There is AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), which helps get rid of surface skin cells and is helpful in reducing wrinkles and smoothing the face, but you should not wear it in the sun as it also increases UV damage on the skin.Nightly usage seems to be effective for me, as my skin feels smoother and clearer. There is a slight shine to the skin, kind of like having a good scrub or exfoliation, and I really like just having a single step to my night “routine.”

49 going on 19! Okay, not really...
When I ordered and as I write this a month later, this costs $275 for one ounce. To cut to the chase, no, I don't think it's worth it. I've used other serums/creams that I thought were pricey, but the most expensive were under a quarter the price per ounce of this, and I think they worked as well, at least on me.Now, that's not to say that this doesn't do anything as this does seem to reduce the appearance of fine lines, as any good night cream should do. I focus primarily on my eye areas but do apply this to my whole face, and I do notice a mild difference. It definitely _is_ doing something, so it's not total snake oil. For the price, though, I should be able to pass for a high school student by now :D, but yet...no. I still look every bit of the 49 years that I've got on me. I completely acknowledge that perhaps I haven't been patient enough and given it enough time to work its magic. Sincerely, that could be the issue.I feel a slight burn when I apply this. It's not painful and goes away quickly, but it's noticeable every time. It does absorb quickly and doesn't feel greasy at all, and I don't notice the scent after a few seconds. I am disappointed that it develops a dried clump of serum at the nozzle every night that I carefully remove from the liquid portion and dispose of. At this price, I'd estimate that the dried clumps are about 50 cents to $1 every night that gets thrown out. it's too bad that the product dries out and isn't as consistent as the $4/ounce face lotion that I use all of the time. The bottle is nothing extraordinary, but it does look and feel nice. The box it comes in is cheap cardboard and plastic, and it feels like it. That's not a complaint as the money didn't go into the packaging, but just a note not to expect some luxury item box to be included. So, yes, this product does work in that it helps my skin look smoother. I have zero complaints about that. It does dry out at the nozzle every day, which is disappointing given the price. As for the price, I don't think it's worth it simply because I find less expensive products to work as well on me.
