Excellent back up stove and heater when electricity is out.
Last week a storm came thru and electric power was out from 12am till 12pm. No morning coffee; all businesses were closed with no electricity. I am grumpy when I don’t get my morning coffee. Hence, the following. The stove arrived from Amazon on time and in a separate shipping box (per my spec) with no damage. The unit is made in Korea and does contain instructions; the instructions take a double read but are understandable. The unit is built strong and heavy and with excellent quality. It does require some participation to use. The drip tray has a few inch bend upward at one end and is done so that you can easily grip the tray to move the unit on your table – nice touch. I fired it up in my garage. As with kerosene fuel, I would recommend that or lighting it outside till you get the flame height adjusted; else, there will be odor in your house. After the initial startup and heat up outside, the odor is minimal. I used Klean Strip Kerosene I bought from Amazon for fuel. To prep for use, I filled the tank with fuel and lowered the burner all the way down into the kerosene (turn the black flame knob all the way counter clockwise to the off position) and let the wick be saturated with fuel for about 5 minutes. Then turn the flame knob all the way clockwise to raise the wetted wick to the top to the on position. You can see the white circular wick if you lift the shroud spring up a bit. Light the wick and lower the shroud and jiggle the shroud so that it seats. You will get a large orange flame and smoke; quickly turn the black flame knob counter clockwise a bit till the orange flame disappears and only a blue flame remains. That will be the High setting. I used that position as my cooking position and heating position. You can turn the flame knob counter clockwise more to reduce heat. The stove does throw off a good amount of heat. I also bought the camping Toughy Classic Black Enamel 12 cup percolator from Amazon and tested it perking 40 ounces of refrigerator cold water on the Alpaca. It only took 18 minutes for the perking to start with cold water. I used 8 tablespoons of Folgers Classic grind coffee, perked for 8 minutes, and wound up with a robust cup of coffee. Now, will have my morning coffee the next time power goes out – Happy Camper.

An absolute winner!
Every once and a while the stars align and the perfect product comes along. This stove is that product! Over the past few years, I have bought three kerosene heaters (Kero World, Dynaglow and one of those God awful "hourglass" small units from China). By now you'd think these brands would be flawless products given the kerosene heaters of yesteryear. But, like everything else in America today, in order to squeeze out every last half-cent of profit, they have all been "value-engineered" into a POS. NOT SO WITH THIS ONE! I work from home and wanted to find a small unit just for my home office so I can set my thermostats down in the rest of the house during the day. This little stove is durable, compact, SIMPLE and burns so clean I have no problem using it indoors (although I do keep a window cracked open just in case). I also have a carbon monoxide detector on my desk and have had no issues whatsoever. This little guy has SO many practical uses and you'll get 16 hours of 8,500 BTUs per about one gallon of fuel. It doesn't get any better than that! Buy it! UPDATE: 12-28-25: 10 stars!!!

Worth every cent.
Arrived in good shape. I love this stove. Works perfect. It is touchy in the wind. Built very well. It is easy to clean the top because it lifts off. Easy to use. Cheaper to run than a Coleman fuel stove. No smell after it is running. Karosene at the pump here is $6 per gallon.

Use outdoors
Works better outdoors as you get an exhaust smell indoors when in use

Great investment
I can't say enough good things about this Alpaca stove. We have pressure canned with it, cooked various meals with it and with our heat diffuser and stove fan we use it as a heater as well. A very substantial heater I should add. It's sturdy and well built and very easy on fuel. I recommend this stove Highly to anyone wanting a backup source for cooking and heating.
