Didn't know I needed this tool
I struggled with getting truly flattened seams in my quilt blocks. Steam, no steam, pounce the iron, hold firm, try not to strech the fabric, all those tips and tricks were good advice, but not as much as using an old school pressing tool like a taylors clapper. Who'd of thought. . . Applying the heat from the iron, adding a little steam, and tamping/clapping the seam truly flattens without streach or puckers. Especially when working curves, this tool produces perfection. This clapper is quality, a beautiful piece of wood, heavy, and polished smooth. So simple, it disburses the heat through the fibers, while the weight presses them flat, then draws the heat away, drying and cooling the seams open and completely flattened. This tool has greatly improved my block piecing. Highly recommend.

Easy Way to Level Up Your Sewing
This product has taken my sewing seams to the next level. I always iron them but running this product over the already ironed seams really crisps them up. I also found it useful for smoothing tee shirt wrinkles after coming out of the dryer. Easy to use and excellent value.

Nice quality and appearance
I really like these. Smooth, not branded. Nice weight. And the finish is good quality. Does not seem like it is going to come off on fabric.

Works. But get a wider one if you’re quilting.
Works well, but if you’re quilting, you might want a wider one. But this works for my small project I was working on. Get somebody to help you if you haven’t used one of these. You just ironed your steam down and then then run this over and it helps to Keep your shape down more and I don’t know how it works. Somebody explained it to me, but it works. You just laid on top of your sea after you iron and it keeps it down.

Clapper great tool
The clapper makes seams when sewing definitely more flattened. When I first got this it has some type of finish on it that comes off with use. You want the raw wood to absorb the moisture and make your seam flat. Sorry I waited years to buy one.

Does the job well and is nice looking
I was concerned that the dark color and sheen of this item meant it had a varnish or some kind of finish-- happily, it does not. It absorbs the steam and warmth after pressing with an iron, just as it is supposed to. It gives a nice flat, crisply ironed seam or hem. I've never used a clapper before, and I hate ironing... but this really makes it look nice afterwards. This clapper is sanded extremely smooth and feels "silky" (for lack of a better word). I'm glad I chose this one-- I wanted something nice looking and not too expensive, and I intentionally chose one that was not made in China, just for some variety. I like it a lot-- it makes me dislike ironing a lot less!

Great for ironing seams
I got this after seeing Dressmaking Amore use it in her videos. I use this to press my seams after ironing them. It takes away some of the heat and presses my seams better than my hand can. The wood is smooth and feels solid.

Very important to set press, it really makes a difference!
This clapper is good size to press for piecing quilt tops. Easy to slid and handle.

There are any number of tools to help quilters and I chose carefully from those recommended. This pressing tool is one that I highly recommend. It really does make a difference to the flatness of seams. It is high quality wood, came well packaged with a return quarantee, printed on the box. It fits nicely into my medium size adult hand and the wood is smooth, no risk of splinters. I have compared the seams on my current block and those I finger pressed, followed by light iron pressing, are not a flat as those seams I additionally use the pressing tool. I am extremely pleased with this tool. I also think, for the quality of the product, it is reasonably priced.
