La Bonne Graine 80g Butter Mould Ribbed Oval Beech Wood Flower

I was apprehensive as to whether it would be a waste of money but it isn’t.Making butter at home is fun, economical and you have butter milk for crepes as a residual.This mould, at 80gm, is just the right quantity to have available. The carton of cream I buy produces three of these and 200 ml of butter milk. Ideal if you see cream downpriced and the butter (providing it is washed properly) freezes well.Soak this in ice water and you can fill with your homemade butter and remove immediately. I wrap mine in parchment paper and put in the fridge to harden before I vacuum freeze.It does look good

It's a block of wood with carvings, so it does what it's supposed to do. The metal parts seem a bit cheap, but it's not like they're doing anything more, than keeping the block together. I'm not sure how they'll handle swelling, since the mould is supposed to be soaked in water before use, so we'll have to see about that. The bottom plate is held in place by the metal brackets, but is moving around quite freely, so you'll have to center the owl yourself, and once the butter is pressed into the mould, I guess it will be held in place. Why it's so loosely fitted, I don't know.
