Excellent strings
For a short scale, these are ideal. I chose the 50 to 105 and getting good output and the tension balance is spot on. Usually I prefer the flatwounds but are too expensive, I've adapted my bass by changing the capacitor to a 0.068uf one and now have the tone flexibility I want.

Bright strings - perfect for Jaguar Short Scale. Bass
Fit my Jaguar Short Scale bass. Lovely bright slap tone - different tension to the strings Fender had fitted so just watch Dave's World of Fun Stuff on how to setup Jaquar Short scale and you will be able to set up your bass just right. I was going to buy another bass but these strings, plus a replacement Jazz pickup (the preinstalled one is weak) and I have a super and versatile bass. Can't wait to play live with them. Wonderful tone.

So far very happy with them
Thought I would try D'addario strings after years of using Ernie Balls. So far very happy with them, and they don't seem to loose their brightness of tone as quickly as Ernie Ball strings do. Only quibble is I found there size guide confusing. I accidently purchased the EXL160s which obviously the s stands for 'short' (I failed to twig this) but nowhere on the packaging does it give you the actual length of strings or says short scale. Found out the hard way then had to purchase the EXL160. Lesson learnt the hard way after opening all the packaging. I'd suggest checking on D'addario's website for string lengths (they provide this info on their website but not on the actual packaging :( ) and measure up first.

Sound Great, easy set up
I had been looking for a new set of strings for a while and after some research I choose these. They were easy to put on the bass the instructions were simple and the colour coding system makes sure you do not mix up the strings. The strings are long enough that I clipped the excess to have nice even tention. I have had these 4 months now and they are still going strong, considering I do play this bass once a week.

Good bass strings - but not for me
I love D'Addario guitar strings- better tone than Ernie ball's - but these bass strings are not for me - I'll be going back to my favourite bass strings on the planet- Rotosound Swingbass- stainless steel - they are bright and they cut but still have great tone.

My bass now sounds like a banjo 🪕
So bright my once cool sounding tone - now sounds like a banjo. Thanks D'Addario!

Sounds soooooo good on Gretsch g2220.
so I tried several strings for my Short Scale Gretsch g2220. First was Ernie Ball regular slinky short scale. Which I really like it but for some reason I was missing some brightness which lacks on short scale basses. Then I tried buying Ernie Ball cobalt regular scale but they didn't fit on my tuners, it was too thick. Next one was the rotobass swing stell strings that my bass heroes all use, but I thought it was a little rough on my fingers and still not the sound I wanted. So back in Brazil when I started playing bass the most affordable strings were D'Addario and I was apprehensive to try it because Ernie balls were super expensive I thought they were the best. So I bought D'Addario nickel wound .50, the same one the that apparently Mike Kerr from Royal Blood uses. I restring my g2220 with these and adjusted the bridge and pickups for my tone taste and wow! This sounds amazing!!! It's so bright and punchy, sounds really good either you play with fingers or picks. The ONLY downside is that .50 are a little more difficult to play, I even ordered .45s to replaced this. I was actually considering replacing the G and D for the .45 and .64 set so it gets a better playability but cancelled and decided to keep this as my true set. I always played with higher tension strings and I'm not that virtuous or play many solos. These are perfect if you play rock, metal or funk. I will update this review with photos and after I feel that I need to replace the set. 100% recommended. Hands down for D'Addario for keeping improving the quality of their strings.
