Columbia Peakfreak Enduro Lace Up Hiking Shoe

I am a huge fan of the Columbia brand in general. We look at Columbia first when someone in my family needs a new coat or pair of shoes. As far as children's shoes go, they are a little expensive when you consider how fast kids grow out of shoes, but it's worth it because they're so flexible and rugged. I buy new shoes for my children about every six months and they still look new! That's with running, mud, climbing, going through the wash... all the things that happen to a child's shoe. If you see these in the store, try bending a one in half, toe to heel, and they will nearly touch. I know these will move with my kids' feet.Now, on to these particular shoes. They fit as expected and are flexible, but they are NOT rugged. Within a few weeks of purchase the shoe laces began falling apart. This didn't surprise me as they looked quite cheap. By the time a month had passed a small hole had worn on the side of one of the shoes. Their tread seems to be doing well, but the rest of the shoe looks vaguely beat up. This was with light wear, they were only worn for walking, running, and playing on the playground.I will buy Columbia shoes again as this is the first pair we've ever had problems with. I can't recommend the brand enough, but we won't purchase the Peakfreak Enduro style hiking shoe again.

I was worried buying shoes for my choosy son over the Net. However, he was very happy when I gave him the box. He immediately tried the shoes and declared thumps up. He would have preferred a slip-on as it is easier to put on and take off. For me, the only issue was the unavailability of overseas shipping.

My daughter likes these shoes - the color is bright and lovely and the fit is very comfortable especially for long wear

I bought these shoes for my son for when we go hiking. He loves them. They are very sturdy and I hope they hold up better than the shoes I get from Target.
