Gore Bike Wear Men FUSION 2.0 Shorts+, TFUSIA

Confession: I've been mountain biking for 30 years, and this is the first pair of mountain bike shorts I've ever bought. I picked up the blaze orange shorts to help meet the blaze orange requirements for being in the woods during deer season while I'm riding. It turns out, these shorts are comfortable, have secure pockets on them, breath well, stretch when they need to, and aren't so baggy that they hang up on stuff. The liner is supposed to fit fairly tight, and the shorts themselves fashionably loose. On the whole, I'll be looking at another pair of these for my regular rides I think.

We are a big fan of Gore Bike Wear, but this particular shorts have a serious sizing issue. I bought this for my husband who is 6ft, 135lb. He normally wears M for all his Gore bike wear and other sports clothes, and dress pants 31. But with Fusion 2.0 shorts, M is too big, S is too small. Below are the measurements of the two sizes:M: outer shell 34", liner 24"S: outer shell 28", liner 22"There is a 2 inch elastic band on the waist. The band is not very stretchable. When it is fully stretched, it may add 0.5".While M liner fits my husband perfectly, but the outer shell is too big. Even with the velcro tightened, it is still a good 32" size. Further, the velcro doesn't stay in place. So we exchanged the M with S. Unfortunately, it did not work either. they are too small, particularly the liner.Other than the sizing, the shorts look like a good pair for MTB. The outer shell is thin and tough. The liner has superb chamois. The outer shell has 3 pockets, 2 on the side and one on the back just under the belt. Very practical. 2 zippers at the thigh area can be unzipped and mesh underneath helps the ventilation. So, double check the sizing before purchase and make sure you can return them if they don't fit.
