My box says that the power adapter and rechargeable battery are included. i received neither one of these items. was it supposed to be included?

I don't recall included accessories being promised with mine, but didn't get any - frankly, I'd use replaceable batteries by choice anyway. If I'm somewhere I need a megaphone and the batteries die, I just want to pop a spare set in and be running again inside a minute rather than wait for a charger.

Is the microphone detachable? Can you position the megaphone in one place and use the microphone independently?

A lot of "no" answers to your question, but in fact, the microphone IS detachable. However, it is connected to the device by a cord (it's not a wireless mic). So, you can set the megaphone down and use the mic while standing instead of having to hold onto it.

does this have a trigger

It has two triggers, there's one at the handle and one on the side of the detachable microphone.

does the mic cable detach

Yes it does only one time cause it doesn’t reattach. You would think it would. Can’t sell you a new one if you can’t take it off and lose it
