DH05i & SD30i Reviews (I bought both.)
Hornet 05i I'd give this bad boy six stars if I could. The sound alone warrants five stars. I was really surprised when I plugged in and hit the guitar strings. I have a couple other practice amps. They are both 20 watts. This little 5 watt baby holds its own against them when it comes to clarity, volume, and tone. If you're looking for a great (very) little amp to take to the park, your friends house, this one is portable, has a rechargeable battery, and is simple to use. Like one knob simple, clockwise to turn it on and turn it up, a quick push to cycle between four preset tones/effects. The four presets are even color coded on the knob. Easy. But wait... yes, there is more. I downloaded the free iAmp app and wow, that opened the door to so much more. I don't need to tell you the numbers, as they are listed in the description, but yes, there are a lot of amps, tones, effects, a looper, metronome, tuner, and even a big helping of rhythm tracks to help you keep time. Yes, they are editable. (My wife hates this amp. I was supposed to make dinner but ended up deep in the rabbit hole that was customizing sounds. After two hours she said something and I had to quit and make dinner. Oops) I did end up pairing the amp with the GTRS GWF4 wireless foot switch. Now I don't have to tap the iPad to change settings, start/stop the looper and drum tracks, and the best thing, it works flawlessly. It does take a little bit to get the button combinations down for switching tone banks and to and from the drums or looper. The downloadable manuals for both are well written and really helpful. You charge the amp with a USB C cable, the same cable will let you record to a mobile device. (I might just put this in a padded shoebox with a SM57 and see what it does...) If you have five minutes to practice or you are jamming all day, the Mooer Hornet 05i will keep up. --------------------- SD30i This amp is that little Hornet on steroids! The 30 watt SD30i is clear, loud, and oh man, is it customizable... Like the Hornet it connects to the Mooer iAmp app letting you set up new presets. I had the GWF4 wireless foot switch. I've used it with both amps. My pedalboard setup is sitting in the corner, jealous. No seriously, like with any amp there are those couple pedals that have their unique tones. I like being able to forget about the minute tweaks to the sound when coming up with riffs and songs. This amp allows you to do that. Set all the presets where you want them, and you have a whole bank of tones to play with. I made four presets with distinct flavors. There is a clean, fuzzy, punkish, and classic British rock. I can cycle through them, or move on to other presets. This is all done on the SD30i through the iAmp app. The wireless foot switch isn't mandatory, but it saves you from tapping the iPad when you want to change tones or start the looper. I can't say enough about this amp, metronome, drum tracks, tuner, and looper. The sound quality that is thrown at you is fantastic. (I think this amp improved my playing.) Did I mention that like its little brother the SD30i packs a rechargeable battery. Yeah, play with 30 watts of powerful sound anywhere you want.

My favorite mini/micro amp EVER!
The Hornet05i mini amp is excellent in every way! Itโs very small, lightweight, and portable, perfect for travel or space saving; but it doesnโt sound small! The overall tone and bass response are really, really good and very pleasing. And I canโt believe how loud it can get! and it still sounds really good at louder volumes. All of the settings are controlled with the easy-to-use iAMP app, connected to your amp via Bluetooth. Itโs very simple to set up. You can also stream audio to the amp over Bluetooth. There are many amp models available, varying in tone and gain/distortion level, so you are sure to find something that fits the genre of your choice. And you can of course adjust the gain and tone of each one. The effects are all excellent and fully adjustable within the app. The provided presets are inspiring right out of the box, but itโs easy to create your own presets. The drum beats are a lot of fun, and the looper is very handy. I might pick up the Mooer F4 footswitch later on to facilitate the use of the looper and preset switching. Quick battery charge and then Iโm ready to go. I used a Samsung rapid charger (which provides 3A of current). Use a 5V USB-C power adapter with at least 2A according to instructions. I am very pleased with my purchase of the Mooer Hornet05i.

Fantastic practice amp
This is a really great and fun practice amp. No matter your playing level, whether you are a beginner or advanced. I honestly didn't have super high expectations but this has really impressed me. First of all it looks great. The covering is really classy and would look good just sitting in your living room. Second, the amount of options this has is incredible. A whole bunch of amp simulations to choose from, a bunch of effects to choose from, (modulation, reverb, delay, auto wah, compressor, etc). The amp sims sound great and the effects are great as well. The app is definitely a huge plus to have, it opens up a ton more controls and options. It aids in saving presets. But it is not necessary. You can just plug in and jam and still have some effects available and control the equipment, gain, and volume from the control panel of the amp. Which is very nice. And the fact that it has a battery so you can take it wherever and practice or jam with a friend is super cool. Does it sound like a tube amp? No. It sounds like a VERY good practice amp. The fact that it's running 4 inch speakers kind of eliminates the chance of feeling it rumble your chest. But it does sound very good and is fun to play. It is a very good option for playing at home or jamming along with an acoustic guitar. Highly recommend this SD30i.

Very Good Practice Amp.
The amp quality is very good. Well built and sounds great. The looper is awesome for practicing riffs and scales. Bluetooth allows for improvising over backing tracks. Onboard and cloud effects help dialing out the perfect guitar tones. The size fits most shelves.excellent value for the money.

Excellent Travel Companion
This is a digital modeling amp with solid features and great sound in about the footprint of a large pedal. It does outsource control of those sounds to your phone or tablet in the form of an amp, so that the controls onboard are more or less volume with power accessed just by turning it all the way down. With the control of sounds via an app in a portable amplifier, it is rather similar to the Positive Grid Spark, which I also own. The sounds on both are quite good. I believe this unit has more amplifiers, but fewer effects, and there are a few more hands-on controls on the Spark, as well as more volume, though there is plenty of volume for solo practice or to play along with another acoustic instrument. This amp, however, has a rechargeable battery, and sounds great, particularly considering how small the speaker is. I could definitely see bringing this along on a trip in a way that I might not with the Spark. The app includes a number of useful features like a metronome or a series of programed beats to practice with, a tuner, and Bluetooth audio streaming for backing tracks or even iOS synths. It handles inputs from synths capably, as well, and is useful for adding effects to those, as well. I might have liked for there to be an auxiliary jack, but that is the only thing I am really missing on this. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this small amp.

Good sound quality
5 stars for the sound and the versatility through the app. The first preset provides a nice high gain tone that was quite usable to start playing right away if that's your style & the clean tone preset is good as well. The preset with delay is a bit much and without the ability to customize the presets is a bit useless to me, but there are a ton of options to adjust your sound through the app. The interface for the app is pretty straight forward and easy to navigate and there are a ton of options available for amp simulations and various effects. The volume seems sufficient for a portable practice amp, but I only tested it indoors. As far as looks, I'm not a big fan. While it feels pretty solid, it has a toy-like appearance that doesn't really appeal to me but maybe a younger demographic might find it appealing? The knob is also a bit awkward to use as it doesn't protrude out quite far enough to get a good grasp on it but it has a good feel to it construction-wise. If this is supposed to compete with the Positive Grid Spark Go, it seems they missed the mark on a few things, especially with it being at the same price point. It is a bit bulkier and also lacks a headphone output which would be a big plus and the Spark Go definitely has a sleeker appearance. But without a side by side comparison it wouldn't be fair to say that the Spark is a better product and the Hornet05i does offer some features that don't appear to be available on the Spark, one being the looper which is a very nice feature. All in all, this amp offers a lot of versatility in a very portable package and more than stands on it's own.

I did not care for this at all..
As a senior, I find the control panel extremely difficult to see the settings (very very small fonts), I needed reading glasses and a flashlight to see. I found it difficult to use and maneuver through the options and I didn't care for the presets. The smooth round knobs are a pita to use. I bought this thinking it would be louder than the f15 amp, not so. I'm keeping the f15!

Fantastic practice amp, BUT ...
This is the greatest micro-practice amp I've ever owned, especially for the price. The best 100+ I've spent in a long time. Enough effects to be interesting, and blistering metal tones all at late-night apartment levels, i.e., very low are fantastic. Playing with the app is fun also. I set up tones for different practice situations, so it's great to change up with no ponderous adjustments and things like that. But โ there are two issues one minor one first: The drums are too quiet. The guitar always drowned them out. In all fairness, they may be able to be adjusted, I just can't figure it out. The HUGE issue, and solely why this is a three-star review instead of five, is there is NO battery life. I read 4 to 5 hours, but I am only getting one hour of play time. That is really a downer given the many positives. I've written MOOER to see if this is normal, but they won't respond. Mine may be an anomaly , but none the less, very frustrating. I have come to a routine to where I just charge it whatever I can before play time, but the playing time is not acceptable given that part of its advertising is being a "cordless" device.
